Same Old Same Old

Since women's football started to become a bit of a thing I've often heard it said that it's completely different to the men's game. England have a chance of winning things they said. The players don't roll around on the floor trying to con the referee they said. So armed with this information I settled down to watch the women's World Cup final between England and Spain at 11am BST this morning. Unfortunately England's heart on sleeve, never say die, blood and thunder approach was found wanting when faced with a technically superior opposition and the Spanish team, after taking the lead, proceeded to fall over, as if being shot by a sniper, whenever anyone disturbed the air within a few feet of them. So basically, it was exactly like watching the men's game! Never mind! It made for a marginally more interesting Sunday morning than being in church!!

I have never been interested in football, but I knew that there was the women's World Cup. I do not know if it finished or not yet.

@LadyDuck No need to be sorry to be honest. They did well but came up against a better team on the day.

It's a bit sad but we lost interest once Australia went down to Sweden for third spot! We're not much into sports anyway but it beats going to church. The hype here was unbelievable.

It's been hyped beyond belief over here as well. I suspect it was even worse for you being the host nation.

@JudyEv And she would probably do better than the current incumbent.

@WorDazza The whole nation's gone absolutely bonkers about it. If she put up for PM, Sam Kerr would be elected in a flash.

Glad you got to enjoy the game. I am so not into sports but I used to like watching the Formula One races on Latvian TV

Not sure 'enjoy' is the right word to describe satching England play. I would say 'endure' is probably more accurate.

I'm not a sports fan. But I have heard of the Women's Cup. I tried to watch a soccer (football) once, but I couldn't handle the noise of the fans in the stands.

I can see why you're not into sports if you don't like crowd noise Pretty much all of the major sports come with that particular hazard I'm afraid.
