How did she forget she had a gun?

My friend, Naomi, went to the airport Saturday to fly to California to attend her grandfather’s 90th birthday party, and when TSA saw what she had in her backpack she caused quite a stir. Somehow, she forgot she had one of her guns in her backpack (she has a license for it, and keeps them for protection). Understandably, this did not go well in the airport, and she was subjected to a lot of questioning before they let her leave for California. Of course, they confiscated the gun. I told her I thought only professional athletes did stuff like that (I can’t count how many stories I’ve heard about pro athletes forgetting the same thing at the airport). In her defense, she has been taking care of her ex boyfriend’s ex girlfriend’s mother, who had a heart attack. If that sounds complicated and ridiculous, it is. Combine that with being a nurse full time, and running an animal shelter on her land, her mind apparently went blank. What is the weirdest situation you have found yourself in, in an airport?

Their device makes a noise when they find anything that is metallic and yes they always find that with me. It is the bra hook (lol) and it is sure embarrassing

Having all that going on, I would have probably forgot too if I had one. Sounds like a stressful situation. The weirdest for me....none that I can think of. I did get a whole flight to myself once lol...I was the only passenger!

One of the last times we flew. One of our connections was cancelled due to snow and ice or some such weather. We were headed to New Hampshire. Everyone got mad and stormed the agent, complaining. They were told they could not help them. Then when the crowd cleared Bob went and politely talked to the agent and we were booked on another flight that night. Kindness pays off.

Other than ridiculously long lines to check in, once shortly after 9/11 airport personnel chased friend all over the airport because he was trying to board a flight with a fountain pen in his pocket.. Probably the least likely terrorist in the whole airport....

@AmbiePam Maybe she went to a store or wanted to go to a store to buy ammo for it, and then completely forgot about it, when the ammo was not available. Am I talking about it from Indian perspective? Kinda, you all must be ordering online, right? Or do you all need to have proper license for buying that ammo too?

Going to the airport has been pretty smooth the few times I did go there. We did have a long wait time for a cab though when we dropped a rental there once.

I have never had a weird thing happen at the airport probably because I can count on one hand how many times I've been at the airport to take a plane.

Weird stuff only happens to people like Pony and those with similar qualities. We are too normal perhaps. LOL

I've only been in two small, local airports and neither of them were manned. My friend took me for a ride in his plane and he only talked to a bigger airport for clearance to take off and land at the two unmanned airport runways. I've watched some of the videos showing what people "forgot" they had with them or were trying to smuggle through airport security. They were interesting... I wouldn't like going through that.

My hubby has had his share of odd moments with security folks due to his blindness. More than once he has been treated like an untrained child. Irritates to say the least.

I hope it won’t happen again. We were detained for an hour or two by an immigration officer. I can barely remember the reason why because I was only 11 years old at that time.

Gee, that is a very complicated situation that your friend has found herself in. I can understand why she got flustered with all of that going on. Nothing weird for me at an airport.

The last time I ventured into an airport was in the 1980s, I was merely shopping there and security wasn't nearly as tight as it is today.

My weirdest situation at an airport? Well, it was the year 200, I was wearing a skirt that had some metal decorations. When I tried to pass the device made noise and they stopped me. I understood what the problem was. I was wearing a "body" underware under my skirt, so I took it off, gave it to them and I went through again... they let me go.

Yeah, even stressed and busy, that seems like a strange thing to forget you have. One time I drove to the airport to pick up Dale, but his flight was cancelled. I spent the night in the airport because I didn't want to drive around Raleigh looking for a motel.

Because it didn't have a magazine or ammo, they let her go put it in her car since it was clear she had no bad intentions.

Good that she was not travelling in some other countries. Losing my flight and sitting in an airport all night was the worst for me.
