And we're back to the mask

I've been noticing a sort of haze in the city for some weeks now every time I hang the laundry in the balcony. True enough, smog has been enveloping Metro Manila and the nearby provinces. The air quality has been really awful that we have to wear mask again. Last Friday, the city government had to cancel classes because of the very poor air quality. The skies looked so gloomy because of the haze. What more, the provincial city where we stay during weekends is getting some volcanic smog from Taal volcano. We wear our masks here and there. But overall, air quality is much better in the country house than here in the condo. I sure can smell a bit of the sulfur but it isn't as bad as the city smog! Anyway, no choice but to be in the city during weekdays for work and school. I ordered 300 pieces of face mask over the weekend so we can have enough supply until Lord knows when. I had my kids wear mask at school today. I'm thankful that it rained for nearly an hour before noontime. It should help improve the quality of air - - at least for the day. I'm watching a K drama (The Penthouse) while writing this post. I just found out that one of my favorite Korean actresses is there. Her name's Kim Yoo-jin. I first saw her in "All About My Mom." She's so pretty and talented, I stayed through until the final episode (ep 54). That K drama made me cry buckets. All for now. I'll be heading down in 30 minutes to fetch my girls from school. Monday's been good so far. Lots of chores done. I hope you guys had a good weekend and will have a pleasant week of work, school or whatevers.

I'm just thankful for the daily showers that somehow clears the air for a while.

Some friends who live in the outskirts of Manila said they started wearing masks again, too. They said there was volcanic ash in the air along with the smog... I hope everyone is okay and the smog/ash lifts soon. Good luck!

Thanks, DE. There's probably not a lot of vog now since the winds have turned westward. The city smog is still here, unfortunately. The air gets better only when it rains. Thankfully, we are currently in the wet season.

@almostoveryou You're welcome... I hope you all have a rainy season, then. Not so much that it floods but enough to keep the ash and smog out of the air.

@DaddyEvil Light rains are a joy. Though yesterday after school, my youngest daughter and I had to wade through ankle-deep flood to get home. It was a new kind of experience for my 13 y.o. and she was both amused and annoyed. We came home tired, wet and bedraggled.

That is sad that you have bad air quality and have to wear masks again.

Yes. We all breathe the same bad air here in Metro Manila and in the nearby provinces.

I have read from other users from Manila that they are wearing masks because of the pollution caused by the volcano.
