'tis odd the hiccups one 'ncounters whilst wanderin' the net. I'd posted a discussion, which brought a big ol' ugly "error" page. Bein' a tad back'ards, I penned 'nother 'n that'un went through. Ya know, coz I fly by the seat 'f my britches 'n fail to makes copies 'f such. So, does one delete the 1st that proclaimed not to've made 't here? 'r the one I'd 'nstant confirmation fer that 'twas successful? Perhaps let the 'powers that be' decide? Anyhow, 'twas most delighted to find that pics were back 'nline! Yepperz, danced me a jig, which freaked out my growin' 'ndoor feline companions. This here'd be a juvenile Yellow-crowned Night Heron. Not 'pposed to be out'n these parts - open grasslands with scarce waters. But, come 't did 'n stayed a short while. Massive treat fer me, what one'd put'n the record books 's a 'lifer'. Once this cutie gets fully feathered, such'll not transform 'nto a wonderfully elegant night huntin' bird. If'n 'twas to show 'gain, will not be recognizable. Any folks here seen critters that aint the norm? 'tis migration season here'n this ol' gal 'tis 'lways'n the lookout fer such!

fascinatin' watchin' her sit'n the pine like a statue. i'd hoped the heron would'a stayed, so i could capture the transformation to adult feathers. will not look a thingy like when this 'twas taken.

Ohhh, look at that beauty ! That's a little one? It already looks so big and confident! I have read that many migration patterns are thrown off - even for bees and butterflies.

How lovely to see this bird & unusual it chanced your way. We do not get much of a migration here really we do see geese flying off to warmer climes though.

i tend to ferget that not all places 'round the globe 've such migration. i 'dore spring 'n early autumn fer that reason. quite oft new visitors, to me anyhow.

@crazyhorseladycx We had a new one show up here too. The Roseate Spoonbill was here for the first time in 178 years this summer.

Great photo. Animals have been displaced by the many fires this year. People have been seeing them in unusual places. None have made it out here.

thanks, nice to be able to share such. i 'twas readin' 'bout these herons 'n many others. seems they're changin' their habitats, 'xpandin' elsewhere. i jest thought't quite odd a juvenile 'd stray that far? perhaps evolution 's changed their diets? 'twas sure a treat to witness such. amazin' how quiet they'd be'n the air.
