A New Desalination Device

Fresh water is something every land animal needs. Villages, towns and cities on the ocean sometimes have a hard time finding fresh water, especially in those hot places on Earth. Desalination is what the process of turning sea water into fresh water, but it is often a hard and expensive - in terms of fuel and time - thing to do.
Now there is a new way to do it. And while it isn't the fastest way to filter out the salt, it is inexpensive.
What do you think? Can you think of a less expensive and faster way to do it?

I thought I'd get more people to respond to this important topic!
If a place can get fresh water made from salt water and not have to 1 - drill a deep well or 2 - truck in water, this is important! Both saving ground water and pollution of having to power a drill or a truck.

Yes, absolutely. It's good not to have to keep going to the well all the time. And having to truck in water is not always convenient either. And stopping pollution is important too. Thank you for bringing up this topic.
