Slow Internet Today

I have been on the laptop for a few hours today. Most of the time, the site I want to use is unresponsive. There is a slow wait to get the one you want and hope it stays on the site until you are done. Another thing is that any notices stay up and won't be xed out. It is annoying trying to work around a notice that you can't close. Is your computer sometimes slow? Is it slow today? What do you do if it happens? Why do you think the internet is slow some days?

My Kindle tends to be slow these days, and I’m not sure if that means I need a new one. I can’t tell if it is that, or my internet.

Sometimes the internet does not work for me either. There are times I can't get the Edge browser at all. I don't know why. Other times, everything is slow. I go to a store or a bank and the internet is down so I can't check out.

Routers and servers occasionally get overloaded and break down. When this happens a slow Internet connection is the result. It happens that Internet is slower than usual here.

@LadyDuck Most adults and many teens and kids have smartphones. Technology can't seem to keep up but they keep coming out with phones that do more things every time.

They need to increase the capacity for the volume of users at busy times of day. I have no idea of how they would do that but they need to do something.

Mine disconnects all the time, and I have to wait 5 minutes for the connection to come back. It is fun...not

It is beyond annoying. Some people try to make ends meet by working on the internet. It is hard to work with frequent interruptions and outages or slowdowns.

I try to be patient. It's not always easy. Despite the innovation of technology, we can't keep up. During peak hours servers can get clogged with traffic going back and forth. This is out of your control. But, you can always restart, because sometimes it's not the internet itself being slow, but your computer. If it's only one site, then again to much traffic.

@akalinus Windows 11, isn't really that bad. What makes it awful is it's redesigned, again, so there's a learning curve to it. People hate change for the sake of change.

@kaylachan I tried to download it once. Nothing happened. Now I find out that it is too late to load it and it is not free anymore. I messed myself up once again.

I bought my laptop with the first COVID stimulus payment. It was the only one for sale in the store. It is getting old and I still have Windows 10. They tried to get me to update to Win 11 but I heard it is awful. So I have an old computer with an old system.

@akalinus Here, too. When I was on myLot last night, I kept having trouble opening new discussions. It was annoying. Everything else online opened easily...

@DaddyEvil Sometimes, myLot does not let me like something or comment. Then it suddenly kicks in. Other times I just get big dots dancing and not letting me do anything. I get so mad sometimes.

I get periods where it hangs up or is so slow that I shut off the computer and turn it back on. Sometimes that does the trick. Dell Computers are known for freezing up I guess. It's a real pain. Hope you have a good weekend.

I have a Dell from 2020. I think it caught a bit of the virus.

I hate slow days. I just try to keep my streaks going and then go read a book or go outside.

I often restart and sometimes it helps but other days are just impossible.

There are too many queues on the router so the internet becomes very slow, that's why mine is set to automatically reboot every day.

Yes mine is acting up too but I am not entirely sure if it is just mine or some of these sites.

It is probably a combination of things. Maybe it is just the computer some days and other days the sites are all messed up.

A lot of places have bad internet. When I first moved to Florida, it was terrible. The electric and internet lines were together and workers digging often disconnected both. If I left for a few days, it was always out when I returned. I learned so much by being here that I tried to fly over all the problems and absorb all I could of the things available. I got hooked on YouTube, Live Science, and all kinds of sites.

I used to have one years ago. The electric kept going out and I think it ruined that poor machine. It worked well when it worked. Tech support practically lived at my house.

It happens for some unknown reason. I used to wonder if there were too many people online. I used to get bumped off a lot too.
