What Can She Do?

I have a sister who is 67 years old, her health is not good. She is getting ready to begin chemo, but says first she has to take radiation. Yesterday we talked and she informed me that she was unable to wash dishes for 2 days. She says her bowls were just too heavy to pick up. She also states she has arthritis and her arms and ankles, she has to use a walker. The sad thing is lives alone, that really worries me, she has a daughter, who had a stroke a couple of years back, they live miles from each other so no help there. My sister, said her doctor told her to walk at least 15 minutes a day. I recall my time on mylot, that there are apps that pay you for walking anyone know anything about them. She lives in another state a lot of miles from me. She's more fortunate than I am, she lives in a place where there's public transportation unlike where I live. You know, it seems more situations are popping up where people live alone and need help. We have a girl in our community whose blind and lives alone. A woman go by and take food and help out with other things. Sada is still in the hospital. Just enjoy being home.

I use one called winwalk. But it doesn't pay much and you have to carry your phone with you. Glad you are enjoying being home

There are a few of them, but not sure how good any of them are really. I haven't made any money on any of them, but I guess I haven't tried that hard to either.

An app that pays to walk would be cool.

That would be a terrible situation to be in. I didn't like coming to live in the village but I can see there are a heap of advantages for a single person. In our village at least, people look out for each other and someone will always check if another hasn't been seen for a day or two.

Perfect arrangement. She can't even have someone live with her, or else her rent goes up. If she were able to work if she makes decent money her rent goes up. Very sad state.

@popciclecold It makes little sense that she can't have someone live with her.

When we were younger and first settling down we don't think much about the future, but it soon catches up with us. The only app I use is one that counts the number of steps I take.

As others have already said, I'm sure your sister would qualify for some home health care. Trying to do everything herself with limitations has to be very hard for her.

It is. When you have wash dishes, and they're too heavy it is a problem. She's looking into it.

@popciclecold I have trouble too washing and holding dishes that are heavy. I've had to get lighter weight dishes which aren't as nice as the ones I can't use anymore. I hope your sister is able to get help.

I will be praying for your sister. I hope some will be able to help you find an app that pays you to walk. I haven't heard about anything like that before.

That's the saddest part of the story now throughout the world. Elderly people staying alone even when they are sick. I stay alone though I am a heart patient. However my elder son visits me often and I go and stay with him sometimes.

That is so good. My youngest son lives with me. I live in the country in the woods, it's scary thinking about being alone.

I'm sorry that you sister is in such a situation. She needs some home health help. We have a relative of my husband that comes and helps us twice a month. We also have a home health aide (more like a case worker) that we can call at any time we need something. Here's what I found online for apps that pay for walking: Achievement App Sweatcoin Runtopia myWalgreens Health Goals FitPotato PK Reward Lifecoin DoorDash She can probably get Meals on Wheels too. Call your local township or city offices to find out what other help is available. Good luck.
