Modern Slang I Find Annoying

The term "on fleek" and people saying "that's clutch" I find incredibly annoying. Probably because they're nonsensical. Yes, even slang should make some sort of sense, I think. Those sound like they were invented by a schizophrenic or a stroke victim with aphasia. Btw, If they had been I could be more tolerant and understanding, but I doubt they really were. What's a modern slang term that drives you insane when you hear it?

Maybe all the good slang has simply already been taken and now all they have left is to make stuff up. I mean, "that's clutch." What the hell could that mean? Something work grabbing, taking, having? Like to clutch it? Certainly, none of these kids even knows a CLUTCH is, say, in a car. I mean, is THAT what they mean. Something that's clutch is something you would do before you shift to something else? I don't get it. I guess for "on fleek," you are entirely correct. Completely made up. Coined by an online influencer in 2014 who simply used it to describe her perfect eyebrows, and it caught on.

That's clutch is allegedly supposed to mean "extremely good" but it still sounds ridiculous. @porwest

Half the time I don't understand what my grandkids are talking about when they speak slang. I've never heard the term "clutch" but terms they use frequently is 'sus" and "thirsty"

Sus means something is suspect/suspicious. That one I kind of get. Thirsty in slang means desperate for attention which kind of makes sense too. @Marilynda1225

@jnrdutton I agree that slang terms should at least make sense so you can follow along with a conversation

I hate when I’m watching sports, and I watch a lot, and they say a play is “sexy”. Uh, no. I fully understand what they are saying, but it is annoys me when they do. I mean, they say it a lot!

I never heard of that's clutch..I don't know...language changes. One thing I don't like though that they use in other parts of the world..and has now come to use in the US is in hospital...instead of in the hospital which we used to always use. In hospital just sounds wrong to my ears.

I have never heard those two sayings. I'm pretty much out of the loop these days and not attuned to what the young people are saying. Have a great day.

I am sure I have heard of some others, but I can't think of any other ones at the moment. Oh wait, one that Eli has even been saying..."yeet" - which I guess is an expression of joy, pleasure, approval, etc...

I have never heard those expressions. I find that there are business buzz words that get a bit tired with overuse and start to get irritating.(usually because they sound ingenuous) I also find certain pronunciations irritating - like swallowing a consonant that should be heard.

I found another one that I have seen people say. They "ate" - saying it as praise for someone doing a good job.
