Due to volatile weather, economic fluctuations and supply chain disruptions, the following food items will most likely be increasing in price in 2024 and may also be in short supply: coffee, cooking oil, cocoa (watch those chocolate prices go up), corn, tomatoes, bananas, rice, wheat products, meat, peaches and salmon. Thank you to @Juliaacv for the posting idea. 113 days until spring. Breakfast - None Lunch - Tomato penne soup Dessert/Snack - Pumpkin pie with tons of Cool Whip :-D Dinner - Turkey sandwich What did you eat yesterday? Photo Credit: Pixabay

I see that you found a list of items deemed to rise in price. Some of our prices, such as that of brown sugar, have already increased in price. But I continue to stock up.

I forgot to mention you in the post. I added it now. Thanks again. I put a jar of instant coffee in my Walmart cart and some chocolate for my husband.

I have stocked what I could, of course impossible to stock fresh tomatoes and bananas, but I bought canned tomatoes to prepare the sauce.

@LindaOHio - I have bought 4 pounds of coffee beans. The bags are sealed and the expiry date is the end of next year, but I wrapped them in foils to better keep the aroma intact.

You know it is funny but lately most of what I eat is just because I need to eat, Somehow all the fun has gone out in eating, I will see what I can come up with when I order groceries in December, I had an instant noodle soup,

@LindaOHio quite a few things but they would all have to be made from scratch and I no longer do scratch cooking. I will figure it out, It was good being a child. Open a can of Chef Boy Ardee and heat it up or have someone heat it up for me,

@RasmaSandra I'm always amazed at some people here that live alone and cook from scratch every night. I would never go to that trouble just for myself. I hope you find something good to eat. Have a great day.

Egads more price increases guess we'll be picking and choosing what we want to spend our money on this upcoming year. I'll definitely pay the increased price for coffee though and maybe I should stock up now before it gets too crazy. 113 days til spring (yay)

Ugh....what else is new. Now I don't use a lot of those food items, but a few things I do...and salmon is already really expensive! I saw that bread was up in price today, what used to be under $3 was over $4 today.

You can also add in other factors like excessive government spending and the administration's attack on the oil industry leading to shortages and higher oil prices. Which means increased transportation costs that gets passed on to the consumer. I've been clipping coupons, buying in bulk on sale items, and resorting to getting store brand items to offset the cost. Or going without that item for up to a month or more until they put it on sale. Have you done anything different in your shopping habits? Even clothes are super expensive now.

More inflation. Just what we need. Excellent. For dinner I boiled the turkey carcass and yielded about 6 cups of meat of which I used two to make a turkey, noodle soup.

I keep my eye on the things stated to possibly be in short supply. As we all know, items in demand and hard to obtain will always cost more. Coffee, fruit, and vegetables in cans are able to be stored for long stretches. If you can afford extra, buy ahead on the items that are important to you. A world without coffee would be hard for me. And I do cook a lot of things that require tomatoes.

Valerie is not going to be pleased about the rising prices for bananas. Yesterday, I had ham, egg muffins with spinach, sausage, and cheese, pumpkin cake, and corn.

So much for ethanol being the answer to the gas problems. Stock up on coffee, we can’t have a world of un-caffeinated zombies running around! CTS for lunch, tomato soup spiked with diced chili tomatoes and rice for dinner.
