Shame On You Coke Zero

As you are probably aware, we had a major cold spell. As such, we had cases of extra soda and beer stored in the garage. It was subzero temperatures and I would expect some things would freeze. We had Schlitz and Blatz beer on the floor. We had a generic lemon lime soda. We had Crush orange soda. And we had Coke Zero. The ONLY thing that froze and burst was the Coke Zero. Which tells you what Coke Zero really is. Brown WATER. The beer is a given. It has alcohol in it and won't freeze. But when the most iconic and most expensive item DOES? It means we are being gouged. We are being took. The ONLY reason our Coke Zero was the ONLY thing that froze and had burst cans was because it was the ONLY product in our garage that was more water than actual PRODUCT. When even a GENERIC lemon line soda won't freeze, this is NOT a good look for Coca-Cola. Just saying. You were the ONLY thing to freeze and burst. Shame on you.

I guess that tells you that the $ you spend on that stuff isn't worth the space you have to put it, & plus it's bad for you anyway, & you talk about spending smart??

Totally agree, water with a splash of phosphoric acid. Useful for de-scaling the toilet maybe?

The thing is I actually invest in Coca-Cola, so, essentially the product pays for itself. Personally, I would not buy it at all, but the wife likes it and so she gets it, and I get to enjoy the fine art of financially offsetting the cost.

I am no soda lover so I don't really stock it in my home. I do keep a bit of Sprite/Ginger Ale for sickie tummies, but that's about it. I never really thought Coke in any form they sell is very good, but that's just my opinion. I know some people love it. I am not surprised it has more water than the other products. The Coca-Cola company no doubt has many scientists who have it all figured out as to profits for the company. Hey, add more water, make more money...I'm sure that's a lot of it.

@porwest My doctor swears diet sodas are terrible for us, even worse than regular. I understand, it fills a need for diabetics wanting a sweet drink, but since I don't care for soda, I will pass. And luckily for me (VERY luckily!) black coffee has zero calories, and so does water!

all major companies like sodas & foods are all in on making money they could care less about the people that buy their junk, but have no other choices but to buy what's on the shelves or go with out.

Given that we live in a temperate country where temperatures are constantly warm or cool, as they have been the past few days, I suppose I will not be experiencing that where I am.

When something freezes in the cold, this means that it contains too much water. I agree that it's a shame considering that Coke Zero is not cheap. I keep the bottle of Vodka in the freezer because I like it very cold. When ice crystals form inside the bottle, it means that it's better that you buy another brand.

Yeah. I agree. A bottle of ANY booze that's worth drinking should NEVER even remotely freeze. No bueno and no drinky, drinky. lol

I personally do not like cola, so it does nothing for me either. My wife likes it, and that's the only reason we even have it in the house.

These days one cannot trust the so-called well-branded items I have that fear with Nestles - they sell chocolates in paper packs.

We've had this happen more than once. You'd think I'd come up with a brilliant idea like putting the soda in the house when it starts getting cold.

That does not look very good for Coke Zero. Interesting to know. My favorites are regular Diet Coke but now even I might reconsider that and Dr Pepper Zero Sugar,

I keep soda around mainly for my wife and for company. Other than that, I hardly ever drink soda.

It's indeed a shame. It contains high acid which is why it bursts.

Is it the acid? I think there's more acid in the lemon line soda and it went unharmed.

That's a shame. I am not into any of those drinks for more than a decade now because of health reasons. I don't have them in the house unless there is a party' and we have to entertain guests.

They should be ashamed. Given that Coke is such a reputable brand, and the price is not cheap, they should pay more attention to the quality of the products they offer.

At the same time, soda is and always has been, mostly water. But I did find it a bit surprising of what we had in the garage, the Coke Zero was the only stuff that froze and burst.
