I know I haven't been here lately. I have a good excuse. Or, maybe it is not so good. You judge. In December, I had a great fall outside and broke some stuff. Someone called 911 and I went to the hospital and had surgery. Then, when my insurance days were done, they sent me to rehab. I was in the hospital for Christmas and the rehab for New Year's. More about rehab later. Is that a good or bad start to 2024?

It isn't the best. I know all to well. My husband suffered a stroke in Nomveber of last year and was discharged from Rehab on the fifth of this month.

I hope he is doing well now. The holidays were hard for you, also.

@akalinus Yes. Spending Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years in a hospital were less than fun.

@kaylachan Neither the hospital nor the rehab did anything to make the holidays special except for some decorations around. They can seem to be bleak and cold places.

I'm so sorry to hear about your fall and time you had to spend in rehab. Hope you're doing better now. and home?

@akalinus not that there's any good time to fall and need surgery but I agree that spending the holidays between the hospital and rehab had to be rough. Glad to hear that you're home and hope you have a speedy recovery.

@Marilynda1225 Thanks. No one plans to be in the hospital for the holidays but stuff happens.

Thank you, I have been home for a little over a week now. Things are rough around the edges but getting better. I was not planning to spend the holidays the way I did.

@akalinus - I am really sorry, I hope that in a little time you will get stronger and also your brain fog dissipates.

@LadyDuck Brain fog is the worst part of it. There is nothing to take to make it better. A lot of things are coming back to me but I wish my thinking was clear all of the time.

They are sending someone to the house a couple of times a week. I feel stronger but there is brain fog to get rid of.

It can't be good to start 2024 in a hospital or rehab but the brighter side is that you got cured. So hope for a better life ahead.

I am doing the best I can but it is so slow. I don't do well when it is cold and it has been really cold in Florida, at least where I am. I am bundled up in a sweater but am freezing. I know spring will come, but when? Maybe I will lose the brain fog in the warm days, hopefully.

@thelme55 I can't wait for it to warm up. It has been cold for a long time and that usually is not the case for Florida. I hope the weather is not changing from warm to cold. I don't like winter either. I used to live in Western New York state.

It sounds like an AWFUL start to 2024. But look on the bright side, maybe you get all the bad stuff out of the way right away and the rest of the year will be easy peasy lemon squeezy. lol

@akalinus lol. Right. I mean, you want this to be a get it all done scenario rather than have it be an indicator of the whole year just being bad.

Thank you. I got out of rehab almost two weeks ago. I am just starting to come alive a little. I get too tired and my memory is not good. It is like I am relearning everything. Like this morning, my battery was low for my laptop. I had to think about how to plug it in to recharge. But once I remember something, it is there for real.

As someone who was laid up for 2 1/2 months with a broken ankle in January 2015 I’d vote “no” on “good start to the year.” I’d call it rotten. Pray you’re doing better.

@akalinus — it always seems to be two months long because everyone’s going back to work after the holidays, and we get so much wintry weather. Poor January.

That's a big ouch. I hope you don't plan on doing that again. I hope those days are a dim memory. January seems to be rotten anyway.

I think it's a bad end for last year and a bad start for this year. I'm sorry you fell. I hope your health is improving and that rehab is helping. I hope February will be a good month for you. Happy new month.
