I know I haven't been here lately. I have a good excuse. Or, maybe it is not so good. You judge.
In December, I had a great fall outside and broke some stuff. Someone called 911 and I went to the hospital and had surgery. Then, when my insurance days were done, they sent me to rehab.
I was in the hospital for Christmas and the rehab for New Year's. More about rehab later. Is that a good or bad start to 2024?

It isn't the best. I know all to well. My husband suffered a stroke in Nomveber of last year and was discharged from Rehab on the fifth of this month.

@akalinus Yes. Spending Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years in a hospital were less than fun.

@kaylachan Neither the hospital nor the rehab did anything to make the holidays special except for some decorations around. They can seem to be bleak and cold places.

@akalinus not that there's any good time to fall and need surgery but I agree that spending the holidays between the hospital and rehab had to be rough. Glad to hear that you're home and hope you have a speedy recovery.

@Marilynda1225 Thanks. No one plans to be in the hospital for the holidays but stuff happens.

It can't be good to start 2024 in a hospital or rehab but the brighter side is that you got cured. So hope for a better life ahead.

I am doing the best I can but it is so slow. I don't do well when it is cold and it has been really cold in Florida, at least where I am. I am bundled up in a sweater but am freezing. I know spring will come, but when? Maybe I will lose the brain fog in the warm days, hopefully.

@thelme55 I can't wait for it to warm up. It has been cold for a long time and that usually is not the case for Florida. I hope the weather is not changing from warm to cold. I don't like winter either. I used to live in Western New York state.

Thank you. I got out of rehab almost two weeks ago. I am just starting to come alive a little. I get too tired and my memory is not good. It is like I am relearning everything. Like this morning, my battery was low for my laptop. I had to think about how to plug it in to recharge. But once I remember something, it is there for real.

As someone who was laid up for 2 1/2 months with a broken ankle in January 2015 I’d vote “no” on “good start to the year.” I’d call it rotten. Pray you’re doing better.

@akalinus — it always seems to be two months long because everyone’s going back to work after the holidays, and we get so much wintry weather. Poor January.

I think it's a bad end for last year and a bad start for this year. I'm sorry you fell. I hope your health is improving and that rehab is helping. I hope February will be a good month for you. Happy new month.
