The Sun, Fireball, and Phone Service Outage

Last night into early morning, thousands of smartphone customers lost services. Most media sources say that it was caused by a solar flare. At the same time, a huge fireball flew over several states. Someone in Pennsylvania captured a video of it. Some even suggested that it was a Russian nuclear test. Is it possible that the fireball knocked out phone services? What do you think happened to the phone services?

I guess a fireball could knock out services but I wouldn't really have any idea.

@JudyEv I hope whatever glitch that is that they have it fixed by now. People need their medications.

@RebeccasFarm I am trying to be more careful about what I say online. It does not always work.

I have theories too. It is not wise to tell what they are. We could have an interesting conversation though.

It is amazing that the sun can do that to our technology. I hope this does not continue.

@akalinus They don't happen too often. When it does, it messes everything up big time.

Solar flares do cause interruptions of service. I hadn't heard about the fireball. Could it have been the space junk that entered our atmosphere? Have a good weekend.

I don't know anything about the fireball. I saw a video of it and it was huge. It disappeared behind trees in a few seconds.

@akalinus There was a satellite that crashed to Earth; but I don't remember where it was.

@LindaOHio That's interesting. I think I heard something about it but not many details. Could that be what the fireball was?

@Happy2BeMe It is scary but sometimes it is exciting. This is a great time to be alive because we see so much history being made and never know what is next.

@akalinus Do not get stressed about the disrupted services of phone and internet, those are caused by the solar superstorm was the cause.

I Ike @LadyDUck said, don't be distressed about it. Enjoy your life, we have no control over what happens.

The news this morning said it was mostly the newer models, and I guess my model wasn’t new enough to be affected. That would have been an unfortunate surprise.

It's hard to say. I had my phone off last night so I didn't notice anything.

Short of my internet going down the night before last, I haven't had a problem with my phone. I still have bars. Must've resolved itself while I was sleeping.

Please forgive me for using your comment to add another link. MyLot will not let me post two at the same time.
The American Meteor Society received hundreds of reports across the Great Lakes, Northeast and mid-Atlantic on Wednesday evening of a fireball in the sky. When meteoroids enter Earth’s atmosphere, they are called meteors. Bright events are called fireball

Some of the outages were resolved quickly while others took longer.

I'm not sure. I'm just glad my phone started working again after around 8 hours not working yesterday.

They must be working on fixing it for everyone's phones. I heard that it was a cyber attack. That is always possible.

NO, those are NOT Russian nuclear tests, do not worry. Yes, it is possible that an over activity of the sun disrupted phone and Internet services, VERY possible. Do not get stressed, this is a natural phenomenon.

@akalinus We must be vigilant of course because there is the risk, but it is now that when the sun activity is intense the communication can be disrupted.

With several countries threatening to nuke each other or the US, I think there are serious possibilities of things going wrong.
