The world's largest snake, a 26-foot anaconda named Ana Julia, was found dead in the Amazon rainforest just weeks after it was discovered. It was possibly shot; but the cause of death has not yet been determined. Scientists are mourning her death because she was in the prime of life and could have produced more giant offspring. The melting of the polar ice is altering the Earth's rotation. As the ice melts, the water mass is shifted toward the equator, increasing the equatorial bulge. The land at the poles that had been pressed down by ice is rising...all of this makes the Earth more spherical. The Earth had been speeding up its rotation; but now these new events are causing it to slow down. While there is no certainty, it looks like timekeepers will need to insert a "negative leap second" at the end of 2029. Somehow, I don't think the world needs more giant Anacondas.

I guess losing them affects the biodiversity of the area.

May be that local people just did not want to see around more giant offspring of the anaconda. Let's hope that scientists can be do something to stop climate change, because governments are doing nothing at all, only words.

@LindaOHio Politicians talk about "projects" for the future, but they are doing nothing.

I actually feel sorry for Ana Julia she deserved to live, Who knows where I'll be in 2029. I had seasoned fries and some hot dogs,

I could go for a hot dog. I don't know if I'll make it to 2029 either.

I read about the rotation of the earth. I wonder how much impact that will have.

@LindaOHio Eventually they might have to adjust the clocks by half a minute.

not sure what a negative leap second means....like the extra day every 4 years, but a second?

I can’t believe it, but I actually feel bad about that snake. Yesterday, I had broccoli, carrots, salmon, a taco, popcorn, an orange, and some chocolate peanut butter candy. I’m not normally a candy person, but I got some in Branson.

@LindaOHio Yes, and it belonged there, unlike some areas where it is an invasive species.

@AmbiePam Yes, now if it joined the invasive species in Florida, that would be another matter.

The Amazon rain forest is shrinking every day due to human predrators. Wildlife die because of this.

I heard about the possibility of adding a second to the year 2029. Your stuffed cabbage sounds good. Last night we had spaghetti with baked chicken

Personally, I would have given that meal away to someone who likes stuffed cabbage and squash. It's a good thing you like it. It's obvious with the weather changes that something is happening to the earth. Yesterday I had Raisin bran and a banana for breakfast; egg and cheese omelet and potato for lunch; and lamb chop and potatoes for dinner with a banana, and for snack I had a banana, DC Dove Promise, and a slice of sourdough bread.

Sad about the snake, but I guess that's life in the wild. Unless it was indeed shot, of course, which would be sad as well. For dinner we kept it simple. I had a couple of Johnsonville brat patties leftover, so I cut 'em up and made scrambled eggs with the brats in them along with onions, green pepper and shredded cheese. We had buttered toast on the side. Yummy stuff.
