Simon Says - with a difference

I wasn’t always fond of games at parties and gatherings but at our lifestyle village, the social committee goes to great lengths to entertain us at the various social events. So I think the least I can do is participate when they call for people to join in. Once a few volunteer, others follow.
The games in which we’re asked to participate are non-threatening and fun. One of the games at the Easter gathering was a variation of Simon’s Says. There were three people each side of the table. The leader called out parts of the body which we had to touch but then she’s suddenly call out ‘bunny’ and we’d have to grab the chocolate bunny and try to do it ahead of the person opposite us.
The leader got a bit carried away once and inadvertently called on us to touch our toes which brought groans of protest. But it was all good fun. Thanks to Vince for the photo.

Touching toes for the elderly can be really a challenge. The photo is very beautiful.
Are you the one in a blue trouser and blue shirt?

@RebeccasFarm You toss two coins. People bet on heads or tails. I'm not too sure why it's illegal. Probably because the government can't control it and tax it.

Touching toes might not be fun, especially for the elderly. Now a days, I find people adding all twists and variations to these party games. That makes it more fun. I really admire the people who host these games and do all that they can to attract people and keep them involved.

@arunima25 The first group of residents moved in about 5 years ago and the last group just perhaps 5 months. The 'old' group are a bit protective of what they see as their domain but people are mixing more now. These evenings help the process.

@JudyEv They do a very good job. Incredible! It's not easy especially if there are newcomers in the group.

It was a simple game but lots of fun. Those watching were enjoying it too.

The leader was getting a bit stressed trying to change orders quickly. She forgot we were all oldies.

He did a great job taking a picture that conveys the feeling of the people in it.
They look like they are having so much fun.
They do have a wide array of activities for everyone to partake in.
I was an Activity Director in a nursing home for 10 years, it presented many challenges as all of the residents were dealing with a serious health issue or the aftermath of it, such as a stroke or dementia or other illnesses. They taught me so very much.

@JudyEv Thank you.
I learned things like music and simple activities, such as folding warm facecloths and towels fresh from the dryer were things that even those that could not remember their families could and did enjoy doing very well.
The effect that a bubble blower had on that sector was really amazing also.
I loved having Happy Hour twice a week during the afternoon so that the higher functioning residents could enjoy a cocktail together or invite family members in.

That al does sound like fun, I remember me and my friends as teenagers playing Follow the Leader and actually crawling on the floor but then we were at a young age, I could'd imagine doing that now
