More Health Issues for Me

United States
April 1, 2024 2:26pm CST
I posted here on January 27th that I had had a major health setback on January 5th. It was a heart attack. I had such anxiety about it happening again that I couldn't talk or even write about it. It was a very unusual type of heart attack and only happens in 1% - 4% of all heart attacks...leave it to me to be part of that small percentage! But that discussion about what type it was will have to wait until another day. Because...one of the tests they did after my heart attack was a CT Scan on my throat to make sure I didn't have a blockage. I did NOT, but the CT Scan showed a calcification on one side of my thyroid and a nodule on the other. The nodule was biopsied and showed that I have early-stage thyroid cancer! So I am having surgery to remove my thyroid this Wednesday. My take on this is that because my heart seems to be pumping fine, and there was no serious damage, I had to have the heart attack in order to find the early-stage thyroid cancer. It's better to have found it now than much later. God works in mysterious ways. I am anxious about the upcoming surgery because my cardiologist gave the okay but mentioned a "moderate risk" for surgery 3 months after a heart attack. SO, prayers, as always, are much appreciated! I will pop on again sometime after the surgery and give you all an update. Thanks for always being here on Mylot for me!

I am so sorry for your health challenges .. I am confident you will be oK though. Did you have any prior symptoms with your heart or thyroid?

@snowy22315 No on the thyroid, and I had my first heart attack way back in 2005...the symptoms of this heart attack were similar...aching arms, high blood pressure, and it felt like my throat was closing up (no chest pain though).

Goodness, girl! It does seem like that this might have saved you even worse trouble, doesn’t it. I’ll be praying for you. I’m glad they caught the cancer early, but any heart attack is super scary, I’m sure!

Sorry about all that you are going through. Prayers and thoughts for you. You rightly said that God works in a mysterious way. We have to look at the silver lining and hold on tight to our Faith. I am sure that this too shall pass. Will wait for the updates when you are done with the surgery and feel okay to post. Take care.

@arunima25 Yes, I always try to do both: keep my faith and look for the silver lining. I don't always understand why things happen, but I do always look for something good that can come out of it. I did just post an update.

Oh, Karen. I am sorry!! Cancer in any form at any time is always a worry. A quick positive story for you. Over 20 years ago, my best friend of many years discovered she had thyroid cancer and they operated that day, it was bad. We all feared it wouldn't end well. She has overcome, is well and happy...she has to take meds daily and keep on a strict schedule with them, because without your thyroid, that's what you have to do. She has traveled abroad, chases grands, does everything she used to do. So hang in there, there is a light at the end of that tunnel, Karen.

@Kouponkaren Yeah, when I went down like I did I had NO IDEA I crashed as hard as I did as strong & "HEALTHY" as I THOUGHT I WAS, but yeah when I went down I crashed really HARD. If you look at my 1st post I think I explained how hard I crashed.
