I Am Home from the Hospital

United States
April 4, 2024 8:04pm CST
What a long day yesterday was. We left the house at 12:30 pm and had to check in to the hospital at 1:30. My surgery was at 3:30, and they were done at about 6:00 pm. The doctor decided since it was so late in the day and they usually like to observe patients for a bit before sending them home, plus because of my recent heart attack, that he needed to admit me for observation. So I got in a room at about 7:30 and my husband was waiting for me. He stayed just a short time and then left to go take care of the dog. They discharged me at 10:30 this morning...the earliest I have ever been discharged from a hospital! I have a sore throat, hoarse voice, headache, and a sore neck, but overall I am doing okay and looking forward to resting and getting my health back on track. Tomorrow I have to see the doctor and get the drain removed, then next week I have to get the stitches out. But I am still alive and didn't have another heart attack during the surgery which was a concern for me, so I am glad God was watching out for me. Thanks to all of you for your caring and concern on my last post.

I'm so glad everything went well with your surgery, and you didn't have another heart attack during surgery. I hope you heal quickly, and with God's intervention you will.

@Kouponkaren I imagine that sleeping in a recliner is not comfortable, I hope you will recover in a short time.

@LadyDuck Thanks. I have been resting but mostly because I have to sleep propped up for the first week and I have been sleeping in a recliner. It's not all that comfortable so I am taking a nap every day since I keep waking up at night.

I am so glad it went as well as possible, and still amazed that they caught it so early. We’ll pray this is the start of a long run of a problem free health span.

@AmbiePam Thank you. The doctor mentioned today that the pathology report has not come back yet. That was a little disconcerting as I didn't realize he was waiting for that report. He told my husband he got all of the cancer. I hope the report has good news.

@averygirl72 I had my thyroid removed due to early-stage thyroid cancer. I am hoping the cancer is all gone now though.

@akanetuk Yes, if you have your health, it is something to be very thankful for. I don't think I appreciated my good health when I had it, but I sure will now going forward.

That had to be very scary going into surgery worrying you’d have another heart attack. What was the surgery for to have a stent put in or something?

Oh, my! That’s why I so dislike not being here to know what’s going on with everyone. In any event, I’m glad to hear your surgery is overwith and a success. Take good care of yourself. Btw, I love that blouse in your photo.
