I read somewhere that gas prices are crazier in California than elsewhere in the US, but I haven't researched it that thoroughly.
A few months ago they were down to about $4.19/gallon at my discount station, a few dimes more at Chevron, and a couple of dimes less at the "barrio" stations.
But then they went up and up, until they reached something like $5.69 gallon a couple of weeks ago.
As of yesterday, gas was $5.45/gallon at my local discount station.I'll check Chevron and the barrio station when I get a chance.
Have gas prices been "volatile" where you live?

In Boise, Idaho today the price of gas is $3.48, which is 40.5 cents higher than a month ago, but 22.7 cents lower than a year ago. It's going to be high all summer probably.

Gas prices are pretty stble here. Corn prices are a different story, though:
Corn prices are volatile despite old crop staying mostly between $6.00 and $6.10, and new crop values ranging between $5.20 and $5.45 last week.

@xander6464 There are many theories. Many of the most respected experts say it's because they were born in a barn.

The last time I saw prices they were around $3.69. Oil prices supposedly have gone up. $5.69 a gallon is atrocious.

In Israel the price for gas is $7.99 a gallon. So I guess that I am not so upset that I lost my driver's licence because of cataracts. The prices go up a bit every month, taking the bus is cheaper about $1.50 or so for a 15 km distance. I have to plan out my trips better now.
