Look at the stash I brought back from my sister's

We went to visit my sister a few days ago. I took back some jigsaws and books that I’d borrowed and was pleased to have the space back but I’ve come home with four more jigsaws and another four books. You can see some of them in the photo. She lives on her own and has a table where she can work on a jigsaw without it ever being in the way of other things. She has done one that is shaped like a giraffe and has a number of other images in it. Her latest was of a rooster again with other images scattered throughout the body of the jigsaw. I do my jigsaws on a board and sometimes I have to take the board and put it on our bed if we need the table for something else. For that reason, I only borrow smaller jigsaws. Now I’m older and have less patience, I also like the ones that have the large-size pieces.

I do not do any puzzles. Cats like puzzles for some reason to slide on and the pieces go sliding.

I can imagine cats would have a great time with a jigsaw.

@jstory07 I woke up this morning hearing Peter cat slapping what sounded like a bottle cap down the stairs. I never did see the cap so it must be under either the stove or fridge now.

Now that I am older, I marvel that I had patience for puzzles when I was younger. Maybe as I get older I will get that patience back. I used to really enjoy them.

@snowy22315 I'd love to help people declutter but the 'hoarders' might be a different kettle of fish.

I have found a 1500 piece jigsaw that I had started and not finished. It is pretty but too big, I cannot keep a table busy to finish it.

Why would you want to use pieces like that. There are online jigsaw puzzles. Free. You could try one of them.

I do do online ones sometimes but it's also nice to have a 'real' one to do.

Jigsaws used to be a big thing over here years ago. Last one I did had 5-7 years written on the side of the box, but it only took me a few minutes. Rubbish! Is the book written by a family member? I’ve heard the term ‘smoking jacket’ but not ‘smoking jumper’. I hate the smell of smoke, whether it’s on a jacket or jumper. What say you?

@JudyEv Deliberately Obtuse? That’s not the angle I was coming from.

@Orson_Kart I wonder which angle that was. Hmmm. Perhaps I judged you a little harshly.

Haha. I think you are being deliberately obtuse. Seriously though, I have my doubts about the real smoke jumpers. I don't see how men on foot can do much in the face of a serious bushfire but I could be wrong. I remember I was wrong once but it was many years ago.

Oh, what fun! I'm currently working on a 500-piece jigsaw puzzle. It's enjoyable to piece them together while watching TV. And something to keep me occupied during those commercials. I've done 1000-piece ones before, and they do take quite some time to finish. But hey, no rush, it's a nice way to wind down in the evening.

You do need somewhere where you can leave a puzzle half-done to go back to it later.
