For several days I have had this severe pain. Two years ago this pain didn't let me breathe and I ended up in the ER. The doctor thought that I had Covid. I had three tests and they were all negative. No one explained why I had this pain. I had an injection for pain and they sent me home. Now I feel this pain again and it's severe and doesn't let me breathe. It feels like stabbing, but it doesn't last long. I think that anxiety caused this pain. If you had this kind of pain what did you try?

@dya80dya I'm so sorry; but it can't be covid.Covid is gone.Couldn't the doctors know why it happened?? Wish you an early recovery.

Will you go to the ER again? I guess an injection for pain is better than nothing.
I'm no doctor, I don't know if it's due to intercostal muscles or the diaphragm, or both. If you cough a lot or have hiccups, that can make the diaphragm sore.
So if you have the flu that might be one of the reasons.
I don't recall ever having intercostal pain but that must really suck as it makes breathing difficult, sorry you're experiencing that.
When I think of anxiety I often think of acid reflux, also known as "heartburn", that gives pain to the chest area and can be confused with heart issues, hence the name. Yet it seems like anxiety can also affect the diaphragm so it could be your case. I guess pain medication would be best so you can breathe normally and allow the diaphragm to relax.

No, I won't go to the ER again because this pain doesn't last long. When I went to the ER the pain lasted for hours. I found a medication that is put directly in that place. I don't cough at all, but I do have a cold. At least this pain doesn't last a long time. It lasts for a few seconds. I tried to take pain medication, but it caused nausea. And it works for two hours.
