Before I head to history I’ll finish my lunch at Chuy’s (I’m so glad they’re a chain ) and give you a song that’s now 40 years old. Hard to believe! Back to 1984 we go for today’s song…and Linda? NO!!!!!!!!!! #6: Victim of Life’s Circumstances - Vince Gill I saw a thing on a group’s Facebook page today that Don Henley doesn’t like the Eagles being called “country rock.” Sheesh, Don, in your own words, get over it! And if you don’t like it, you’d better kick this guy out of the band! Vince had been in a lot of bands, including Louisville’s own Bluegrass Alliance and the post-“Amie” Pure Prairie League. He was in Emmylou Harris’ Hot Band, and as a session man he backed a ton of musicians in country and rock (which is why he can get both sounds so seamlessly in this song). And let me tell you, as someone who’s met him a number of times: he is a sweet, genuinely nice guy. Here he romps on a terrific Delbert McClinton tune that pretty much bombed on the country charts (way too rock for country, if you ask me…not that it isn’t a good song, just not a good country song). But Vince recovered nicely on his way to eventual induction into the Country Music Hall of Fame. Victim of Life’s Circumstances Written by Delbert McClinton Recorded by Vince Gill From Turn Me Loose, 1984 I started out the night with good intention:

40 years old, I was a little young girl then. Not familiar with the song.

Like so many others, they’ve relegated Vince Gill to the same two or three songs to be played, and this isn’t one of them.

@FourWalls Actually I have not heard his name, but then I am not much knowledgeable about the music across the globe. My knowledge is limited to my country and a bit about current music globally. This one sounds okay.

Thanks for the warning; but seeing Vince Gill's name alerted me to the country!

It wasn’t a big hit for Vince, but the fact that something wasn’t a “big hit” has never stopped me before.

It does. It’s a great tune. I think the first time I heard it was Rodney Crowell’s version.
