Are you fond of writing? Do you keep a diary?

I used to write a lot before because of my blog. Unfortunately, I got technical issues with it and I could not solve the problem anymore. I neglected writing for a long time. But now, I want to get back into writing. They said that it is a good practice because it can help you to know yourself more.

@LadyDuck That is completely understandable. It is important to protect our privacy and comfort.

I started keeping a journal 35 years ago, I just like to write and it helps me remember dates and events that I might have forgotten.

That's fantastic! Keeping a journal is such a valuable practice. Not only does it help you to remember important dates and events, but it also provides a space for reflection and self-expression. Do you find yourself revisiting your older entries often?

I write a journal entry on paper and sometimes another one on a Chromebook. It's relaxing to me.

@annierose I write via the computer at night, just before I go to sleep. I find it easier to write poetry on the computer- its a fast way to let the words fly.

@sallypup Writing poetry on the computer sounds like a great way to capture those late night bursts of creativity. Do you find that your writing process differs when you write poetry compared to other types of writing?

I've been keeping a paper journal since I was 8 or 9 years old. I purge a lot of things in my diary. I kept a blog for over a decade until it had to sleep for a while. No one's visiting and commenting anymore because they're all on Facebook. I'm so glad to have discovered myLot. I like that I get to converse with people from different parts of the world. myLot has become my open diary.

Hi Macy! That is a beautiful journey with journaling and blogging. It sounds like writing has been a significant part of your life for a long time. It is also great that you found Mylot as a new space to connect and share your thought with others globally. What are some of the most memorable interactions or topics you've discussed on Mylot?

@almostoveryou Wow! Exploring childhood memories, food and culture can be incredibly rewarding topics. I agree with you that we can find value in learning from the retirees in this platform. Have you ever thought about combining your love for writing and painting/drawing?

@annierose I worked as a professional writer for a little over 20 years until I decided to take a break and switch back to my first love, which is drawing and painting. Oh, what I enjoy here the most are discussions about interesting childhood memories and food and culture. I'm glad that there are many "retirees" here -- I learn a lot from them.

I kept a journal since the age of 17. I am 68 now. However, in the past 20 years, I have not written as much, and in the past 5 years I have destroyed all my journals. I did not want to leave any of them behind for others to read when I pass on. Writing became more sporadic, so I quit keeping journals. I paint and do mixed media art instead.

I have an introvert personality, and prefers to be alone. I think reading and writing have connections. For example, if someone loves to read a lot, there can be chances that, that person also loves to write? What do you think?

I enjoy writing. I used to keep a dream journal. Looking for patterns was interesting. Yes, they were there.

That sounds fascinating! Dream journals can reveal so much about our subconscious. Did you notice any recurring themes or symbols in your dream?

@annierose Repeating themes, repeating characters, and repeating places. Helped me figure out some things I was "processing" without really being aware of it.

It is good to hear that. Where do you write most of the time? Do you keep a journal?
