High end groceries?

Bye bye the better part of one hundred dollars.
What did I have to have?
Let's see: cat litter, cat food, dog biscuits. And a bag of lettuce, some fresh mushrooms. Almond flour and pitted dates. And tofu. And some arthritis rub for my screamy back- going to try it out. Thirteen pounds of dry cat food.
Just wow. I wonder what it would have been if I had bought stuff like chips and ice cream?
On with my day- I am curious to see what the sweet potato truffles will taste like. Going to play with my immersion blender! Again.

@MarieCoyle My husband refuses to eat pork now. I love a locally smoked bacon. BLTs with ripe tomatoes are grand.

Pork is more affordable most of the time here than chicken. Of course, any beef is way expensive. I usually just eat bacon in the summer when the fresh tomatoes are here, so I can have my treat of a BLT.

I had to pick up a few things..cat food, bananas etc. I didn't buy anything on impulse so kept the bill down for once.

@snowy22315 Bananas cost a lot more than they used to. I have cherries in the freezer so I am eating those instead of buying store fruit.

We have cherries, strawberries, and blueberries in the freezer right now that are the last of what I put up last fall. The only fruit we have been getting from the store for awhile are a very few apples, and those little oranges, which have been surprisingly inexpensive this spring. Trying to eat the rest of the fruit in the freezer to get it out of there, to hopefully restock it over the summer.

I went shopping Wednesday and thought our bill would be outrageous.
I bought meat (ground beef, chicken and ribs-- all on sale) peppers, onions, potatoes, salad mix, milk, butter, cheese, laundry detergent (on sale and had a coupon), nuts and a couple of other things. I figured on it being over 100 but was pleasantly surprised that it was just under 100.

Cats sure go through a lot of food and litter, don't they?

I am on a strict budget so when I order once a month my groceries from Walmart I am extremely careful to first get what I need, then look for what extras I might like, and I always buy Great Value because it makes things cheaper and the quality is good, I get Amazon gift cards through my surveys so I always order dry cat food through there,

Food does cost a lot these days. Isn't there an old adage, "Don't trifle with truffles"?

Food these days is ridiculous. I'm buying more and more Walmart house brands these days. Hope your back feels better. Have a good weekend.
