Gulf State Park

Back in September, my granddaughter was participating in a gymnastics meet in Foley, Alabama. I love attending her meets. I love spending time with her. After her meet was over, she and her parents were heading to dinner with friends, then staying in their hotel for another day in the beautiful town of Foley. I, on the other hand, was heading back home that night. I was feeling kind of sad because I wanted to spend more time with my daughter and granddaughter, but I had to get back home that night. I had church the following morning and am the pianist, so there was no staying for me. I did decide, though, that since the beach was only an hour and a half away to go spend a couple of hours there. It was the pick-me-up that I needed. The closest beach was at Gulf State Park. I had never been there before. It was beautiful and so clean. It was not that crowded and the people who were there were polite and civilized. I had a book with me and that was all I needed to relax and get a little beach time in before heading home. It is definitely a spot that I would like to visit again.

Oh! That must be so wonderful. A quiet and clean beach with a good book..you can't ask for more. I went to Phuket in the end of March. I made sure that I spent an hour each day lying on the beautiful beach with my book

Good for you! I am glad you had some "me" time at the beach! I'm jealous!! I miss those gymnastics days. My oldest daughter competed when she was younger. She made it up to Level 9 I believe before ripping Achilles tendon. That took her out of competition.

@gnatsmom No she did not. She started dating. I did not have to worry about her and boys until she hit 16. She was in the gym 5-6 afternoons and nights a week and some Saturdays and I always knew where she was. She ran me ragged chauffering her around.

@kareng I run all over watching my grand daughter in gymnastics and my grandsons in soccer. My granddaughter is consumed in gymnastics. Her other grandmother lives closer and runs her back and forth when her mom can't. Her other grandmother even got a job at the YMCA, so she could be close to her and keep an eye on her.

Gymnastics can be a dangerous sport. My granddaughter has broken a thumb and a wrist. One of her best friends slipped and smacked her face into a beam. These girls are tough. Did you daughter take on a new activity after gymnastics?

That's good that you were able to fit it a little beach time.
