Visit to Antique Store in Town to East of Me

As I told all of you the other day, I will be scouting out for a new antique store to move to. I think I have made up my mind to get out of there and be done with the controlling ladies at the store I am in now. This shop is located in the opposite direction from the one I am in now. It is a very small town, smaller than MY town. The downtown street used to have a nice Mercantile store that was always busy. It is no longer in business and that street is basically dead now. There is this one store that opened up a few months ago there that I have been wanting to visit. Their facebook page has some interesting things posted and a good variety too. I went over Friday afternoon and really enjoyed my visit. However, she has no space available for another vendor so that makes it a no go for sure. I did find a Mississippi Gardening By the Month book that features flowers, vegetables, herbs, trees and scrubs, vine, and more that I brought home with me. It was only $1.00! I also fell in love with an old heavy vanity there. If I can find another store before it sells, I will go back and get that beauty. It was only $75. So that is the extent of my new space shopping. Strike 1! But I enjoyed my visit. The owner was a very sweet older lady who gave me seasoned cracker samples to bring home with me. Photo Credit: Pixabay, Public Domain

Shame that they have no booths free to move your store there. I love the photo you posted, this reminds me of the antiques stores in the UK.

Yes, it was closest I could find on Pixabay to represent a quaint little town!

@LadyDuck Lots of old towns around here with those quaint historic buildings! Most in our town have been knocked down though. The former jail was used as an attorney's office until about 2 years ago when he retired. It has been up for sale for all of that time. Rumor has it that a beauty salon is moving in there. I find that odd unless they will be leasing the building. That would be a high investment buying that building for a salon in a town with less than 1,000 residents.

@kareng - It's pretty, I remember a strip like this in Amarillo.

It sounds delightful. I'm sorry she didn't have room for another vendor. I hope you find a new store to sell your antiques.

Thank you so much, Valerie! I just don't want to associate with those women any longer. I much prefer "women helping other women and building up, rather than tearing down other women."

It seems like you had an interesting and enjoyable visit to the new store. It is great that you found a gardening book and that you are considering the beautiful vanity. Hopefully, you'll find the perfect new store soon.

Yes, it was a nice little shop!! I'll go visit again in the future. Not sure about the vanity. I don't have room for it at home and will not move it to the antique store since probably moving out. Too much work there since they have steps going up to the sidewalk in front of the store.

@kareng It is great to hear that you enjoyed the shop. It sounds like you are considering the practicalities of the vanity. Moving it to the antique store does sound like a lot of work, especially with the steps. Do you have any other ideas for the vanity, or are you thinking of exploring other pieces for your home?

@annierose Considering that I will be giving my 30 day notice this coming week, I will not be getting the vanity. If I find another store to go into right away, I will reconsider!

It's a shame there is no room for your items but who knows? Maybe someone will pull out of there sometimes soon and leave an opening.

I'm going to keep looking. We will see. I may be moving out next week. The way their actions have been I wouldn't be surprised if they tell me to move out ASAP. That is going to tick off my hubby big time.

@JudyEv Stores here are closed on Sundays and Mondays in some of the antique stores, usually most in the small towns, so I will be back on this mission Tuesday and Wednesday. I am pondering whether I go in to the antique store on Tuesday, the last day of the month or wait until Wednesday, the first and get my check and then give notice or my orders to pack and get out. LOL. At least my lease is up!

That will be one of my main missions right now to find another place. If I have to, I will put some of the stuff in my flea market booth, but I worry about things getting broken there. So many bring kids in and do not watch them!!
