When they come at night…

Twenty tornadoes so far, and it isn’t over. I spent about 20 minutes in an underground shelter tonight at my dad’s home. A tornado hit close by, but we didn’t get touched. It was the first time since they put that shelter in 7 years ago that they’ve used it. The tornadoes have gone on throughout Oklahoma, hitting city after city. You can only see the tornadoes when it hits electrical wires, and the power flash lights up to reveal the mile wide twister. Now the problem is the tremendous flooding from the rain that has continued. Emergency crews are having a hard time getting to the hardest hit areas because of the debris. It’s going to be a long spring and summer.

Your post answers my prayers Amber. We have the news on and they reported of many tornados in America's heartland, and I immediately thought of you and began to worry. The people of your area, that live this every season must be very strong and resilient. It doesn't sound like it is for the weak of heart. I am praying for a safe day for you and your area today.

Oh my Amber, we were talking about the tornadoes near you with Marie and I was so concerned. I am glad the tornado did not touch you. I am glad you have a safe place where to stay at your Dad's house. Please keep safe.

Thank you, Anna. I knew it was serious when my dad called. I told him it made me too nervous to watch the weather, so I asked him to call when I needed to be concerned. As soon as I saw his number, I got a sick feeling.

I'm glad you are safe and sound. The storms are just entering Ohio. I think the worst of them will stay south of us.

We watched the Weather Channel as we had a warning. The danger went away, for now. I truly think there should be a law against any bad storms at night of any kind, but the weather just won’t cooperate! Seriously, be safe. I hope you are safe at your Dad’s with the shelter but I bet you went home. Been concerned for you!

I did go home because I guess in the rush to my dad’s house, while I brought my medicine for a possible overnight stay, I forgot my migraine medicine. I was too uptight about another migraine without it. When I got home, there was debris all over the place, but thankfully, we all had electricity.

@AmbiePam Oh, Amber. I bet that was a rather frightening drive home. I am always thankful after a bad storm when we still have electricity, too.

I bet it will be. Thank God you have that shelter to go to. I hope you always have enough advance warning to get to it! Stay safe..

Oklahoma too? Blink...glad to know you are safe...I hope the underground shelters don't get filled with water during floods.

That does happen with regular cellars, but underground shelters built specifically for tornado purposes are built to keep that from happening.

OMG, I'm praying for everyone up yonder, hopefully there won't be anymore twisters and not so much rain that it floods everything.

No flooding here. Some other cities got a terrible amount of flooding, but we’re fine. Which is amazing because my city is notorious for flooding.
