My mother and I visited both the public hospital and a private clinic to obtain her recent laboratory results. Fortunately, the process was swift due to the low number of patients. Unfortunately, her results revealed high levels of creatinine, total cholesterol, blood uric acid, and other markers. Discussing this with my fiance, he advised that my mother should cut back on her rice consumption, which is difficult as Filipinos love to eat rice. Additionally, he suggested she increase her physical activity. However, this poses a challenge as my mother has a history of falls while walking. Her recent consultation with the doctor revealed that her knee cartilage is thinning, making long walks inadvisable. Tonight, we will visit her private doctor to show her the laboratory, x-ray, and ECG results of my mom.

I'm sorry about your mom's results. That can be incredibly tough. When my dad suffered a mild stroke, he lost weight and was advised to increase physical activity, which is difficult for stroke patients.

I am sorry to hear about your dad's stroke. It can be really challenging for stroke patients to adjust to new lifestyle changes, especially when it comes to physical activity. How is he doing now?

He's doing much better. He can manage on his own around the house but he can't handle tedious activities anymore.

@MGjhaud That's great news that he's doing much better! It is a relief to here that he can manage around the house, even if those tedious tasks are a bit too much. Atleast he can focus on the more enjoyable things, like relaxing or spending time together, right?

If you ask the doctor, they may already have a low cholesterol, good diet for her to follow.

You are right! Doctors are the best resource for tailored diet plans, especially for managing cholesterol . We will surely ask the doctor for the best meal plan for mom. Thanks for the idea.

@annierose My aunt (she was like my mother) was very small and frail towards the end of her life. She just couldn't get her head around trying to understand a diet to gain some weight, she was a good eater but just didn't really eat enough. I had the doctor do a diet for her, and she actually followed it and it did improve her condition at the time. I did the same with my Dad, he had to have a low cholesterol diet and had no idea how to proceed. I hope they will help you. Maybe if she actually hears it from the doctor, it will sink in that she has to do this, or she could be very ill.
