I have been watching this documentary show for the last hour or two. I heard a lot of things leading up to this show about Drake Bell who a lot of people who watched Nick in the 90s an 2000s will know as Drake from Drake and Josh. He also had a pretty successful music career, and still does for those who follow him. He was one of the teen heartthrobs when I was in middle and high school so of course I was well are of who he was/is. I knew that he had had a lot of issues and substance abuse problems and had had a kind of troubled young adulthood and childhood. When this stuff started coming out about how horrible Dan Schnieder was, and how Nick basically turned a blind eye to all of it, I had a feeling that Drake Bell had had some horrible things happen to him. I was right. I knew he was going to be a BIG part of this show, and I really wanted to hear his story. We hear women come forward often when they have been raped, sexually assaulted etc, but it is very rare than a male comes forward which I think is just because they fear what will be said of them. I have heard a lot of people say that it doesn't happen to men as often as it does females. Which may or may not be true, but I also think that men are just more afraid of coming forward. Worried what people will think of them, or that it makes them less of a man because they have been taken advantage of or assaulted. Speaking as someone who was sexually assaulted at 14, and bore a child from that assault. He was born stillborn, but I was still traumatized by the experience. It's not something I speak about often, or hadn't in the past. But I know its nothing to be ashamed of, and it wasn't my fault. No matter what my mother said to me when it happened, and still says now. I am proud of Drake Bell coming forward and telling his truth, and telling his side for the story. He didn't deserve what happened to him. It is especially disgusting for a director or anyone else that held the power Dan Schnieder did to take advantage of the situation and tell Bell or anyone else that they wouldn't get anything in the business if they didn't let him do what he wanted. He was also assaulted by Brian Peck. My heart hurts for him, and anyone else who has been through the heartbreak, trauma and pain that comes along with being taken advantage, assaulted and anything else. I applaud him and others like him for coming forward.
