Yep. They point guns at daycares here.

I just stumbled upon this one as I was trolling YouTube. One time four dudes got out of a car as I was returning from a smoke break and said, "Hey, we got us a white one!" , but I was already near the entrance and got inside before they pulled out any weapons. I think I called the police, but I can't remember for sure. Working in Oakland can be weird. I am using "old age" as an excuse. I don't think I'd work there again. Only one kid I worked with was ever murdered. But it still stings.

There needs to be better mental health services and training in morals. A lot of people don't have a moral code anymore.

Many of those who need mental health help will not seek it out.

Many people are born in the US without what I would call a "family" to model moral values.

It is always sad when a child is murdered. What did they do to deserve that? NOTHING! SAD, SAD, SAD!!

I think most child murders are done by mom's new man.

I actually met the murderer before he did it. I could tell he was "odd."

THinking of all the crazies out there makes me remember the lines in a scene from the original Dracula movie. They're all crazy except for you and me and sometimes I have my doubts about you It was a conversation between a caretaker at an asylum and a nurse,

@TheHorse I was in Oakland a long time ago. I really did not like it there and do not remember wny. Good thing you got inside in time because you do not know what they would have done.

That sounds like a really scary experience. It's understandable that you wouldn't want to go back to working in such a tense environment. It's important to prioritize your safety and well-being above all else. Take care of yourself!

@akalinus He sings so well that even when I want to unleash a bunch of stray dogs on him, I control myself. Here is one...he has written the lyrics of this song....sorry this is a John Prine cover.

I have survived so far. What are your passions? Mine is music. You may have seen some of my music videos. @Vandana7 is responsible for them. We disagree about some things, but we "get 'er done."

I bet many country folk do crazy things as well. But I have never researched it. I do that a lot of our most violent crime is in urban area. I HAVE researched that.

@snowy22315 I've read that cops hate domestic disputes. Passions run high and people do stupid things.

I will see if Harold's Chicken Shack still exists in 53rd or 51st Street in Chicago. Even in the '70s, you got your chicken on a bullet-proof "roundabout"--a little carousel thingy about 1.5 feet (.5 meters) wide.

I remember being in Munich abut ten years ago and finding it odd that I was in a "big city" yet did not have to worry at all about being mugged.

I made some major navigational error on a bicycle trip and ended up riding right through Oakland, CA back in the eighties. Quite eye-opening for a white Canadian boy. Only one person spoke to me as I went through. Some little kid leaned out of a pickup truck window and yelled "What're you doing here white boy?"

I used to work in Oakland long ago. It was not that scary then and I was not afraid to walk there. Times have changed.

I am glad violent crime is down over the past three years or so. But of course it's still way to high in the US.
