My kind of a morning

Yesterday I ran into a notice that a lady was selling a cement bench. Reasonable priced. I drove over there this morning. I sure don't know all the nooks and crannies of this town. "Ham Hill road". My little putt putt groaned but made it up steep inclines and zippy corners. I finally found the correct house- its driveway steeply headed toward a nice garage. I generally don't use the automatic brake. This time I put the brake on before I got out of the car. The very sweet lady managed to get the bench pieces onto a furniture dolly. The bench came apart so there were two legs and a slab top. It took some doing but the pieces finally went into my car's trunk. Bonus: she gave me a plastic bird bath! Its green. I'm wondering about painting it. We've hired a guy to come mow for a couple of hours. I am going to ask him to help get the bench out of the trunk. Then wherever it gets put that's where it will stay. I do have a hand truck to help.

That sounds like a great freebie to me! I hope you can sit on it and enjoy some sunshine, very soon.

Thanks @MarieCoyle. Need to do a little mowing before I can sit on the bench.

@sallypup We are supposed to get astronomically huge swarms of cicadas very soon. I can't even remember the estimates of them. A few have already emerged, and if we have as many as they say we will have, they claim the noise will be deafening. I am kind of dreading it...it's hard enough to avoid the summer bugs. But add in all of those, and it will be really difficult to sit outside and enjoy the bits of time out there. Ugh.

@MarieCoyle I have heard about the cicada invasion. I hope it won't be too bad. Years ago my Mom lived in Missouri. She talked about cicadas.

Sounds like you made a good deal. Did it come out of the trunk alright?

@JamesHxstatic We paid the guy who mowed to pack the concrete pieces to the brick area.

@JamesHxstatic I paid the same amount of money on a real concrete bench as I would have on a plastic one.

I wondered how you would manage once you got it home.

@allknowing I wish I could post a photo. So far I can't get the photos small enough to make this site happy.

@rebelann The piece is a classic. I just couldn't see a piece of plastic sitting out in the side yard.

As I was reading, I was wondering how you'd manage to move it. I'm glad you got it home at least and hopefully the mowing guy will help you unload it. Maybe we'll get a photo later?

@JudyEv I can't get photos to go small enough for this site so I can't provide photos right now. Tomorrow hubby and I probably will put the bench together. Oh boy there.

Awesome it was a freebie. I wouldn't mind having something like that. I certainly have room for something like that. I have a birdbath and little walkway in the back. It would look nice there.

Glad you and the nice lady were able to get the bench moved. And a bird bath too. How nice.
