So, I was happy to hear a news report this morning that hospitals in Virginia (where I live) were ranked second in the country for safety..bested only by Utah. They say patients are less likely to encounter problems during their hospital stay here than almost anywhere else in the country. I have limited experience with myself or loved ones in hospitals but they always seemed good to me.

My husband had two surgeries at our local hospital, he was very happy about how he has been taken care. I had lunch at the hospital restaurant to be with my husband all day and the food was really good.

Hospital food here has improved a lot. I don't know if it the same in all states. I was doing a clinical study once that included some time in the hospital several hours so they could observe you and got to have breakfast and lunch there. I thought it was quite tasty.

@LadyDuck I enjoyed mine. Friend was in the hospital a few years ago..but don't think I was there at mealtime. I brought him some blueberries as he loves them.

@snowy22315 The food at our local hospital is really good. When my husband had surgery he was not hungry and I ate the food they served him.

The hospital that Vince is going to is supposed to be top-rate and I'm sure it is. If they charge so much, they'd have to be, wouldn't they?

@JudyEv I think Perth is pretty big. They should build another. That is one thing you would have your choice where to go for something like that here, but I know one hospital specializes in things like that. They have a very good reputation too. Former roomie had COPD and was a client there

@snowy22315 This is the only hospital equipped for such surgery. I'm pretty sure that's the case but the doctor we have does all his heart operations there. It's recognised as the best. We don't have dozens of big hospitals here. There are good regional hospitals but none equipped for heart surgery.
