A bit from the news

I don't know that I've ever shared anything from the news here but this is something that was discovered recently in my town that has people scratching their heads. A woman was found living under/behind a store sign on a roof of a grocery store here. I think it was a construction person that saw a random extension cord on the roof and followed it to where this woman made herself a small living space. I'm case my link doesn't work and your want to check it out, it was at a family fare in Midland MI. Somehow she got a desk up there along with a few other things. Supposedly she has a car and a job. The main question is how does she get up and down as there are no ladders. She has been removed from the area but no charges have been made against her.

I guess she might be having a mental health situation, bless her heart. I had vaguely heard this story, but did not know all the details.

@MarshaMusselman They said she turned down help for housing. I’d rather stay at a place the government provided than under a sign, but hey, maybe she didn’t mind the circumstances. I’ve seen free government housing designed to help people get on their feet (not homeless shelters), but I’m sure there are a lot of places worse than what I saw. I just know I’d have to have an actual toilet.

@AmbiePam she may have used the stores toilet during the day but that store is closed at night. The only thing open nearby is a McDonald's and that was down the road a bit. I wonder whether there was a ladder near another store there as several shared the same roof. But, walking on a roof in the winter when we have snow or ice wouldn't be very smart either.

The reason she was there hasn't been determined and possibly never will be although it might just be that she didn't want to pay out money for housing.

I wonder what her income might be from her job. It's possible that she makes to much to get any kind of aid although several organizations have reached out to her. I'm guessing she must have had a space heater up there too. There was a door to block out the elements but I still can't imagine anyone would consider such a thing.

Wow. She had to be really strong to scale the store to get up there. She had a cubby hole of wood. Wonder what for since couldn't do a fire in there. Wonder if someone who knows her will share something later. Amazing she didn't get caught for a year.

She wouldn't have gotten caught if workers didn't see her power cord and follow it to see where it went. Unless some passerby might see her coming down or something.

It's very silly. I wonder how she even knew there was room up there. My husband said there was a door to shield out the elements. But it can get very cold here with snow and ice in the winter months. I don't see how she could handle it unless she also had a space heater.

Wow, that's amazing! I wonder how she could tolerate the weather? imagine getting a desk onto the roof of a building with no stairs up...

Maybe she's a homeless person. Poor her. Does living there interfere with the public interest, or is it dangerous?

without ladder, i am thinking the same.also,was she saving or something?if she has a job and a car, i think she could have afford some kind of place to live

She hasn't shared anything about why she chose to live in such an odd spot. I'm wondering if she was able to buy a car because she didn't have the bill of a mortgage or rent, but we may never hear why.
