Decided to share my poems on Instagram

I stumbled upon an Instagram profile of a poet. She has millions of followers and whenever she posts something—post or reel—she gets a huge amount of likes. Tens of thousands. Hundreds of thousands. Even millions. I tried posting some poems of mine on Instagram, which I haven’t really done before, and hardly any likes at all. I wonder what I am doing wrong. Or not doing what I should be doing. I also wonder how she has gained so many followers and gets so many likes… I’d love to have that kind of success.

Remember that social media success is not solely based on the quality of your work, but also on factors like visibility, timing, and luck. Don't be discouraged by initial setbacks. Keep experimenting, learning, and refining your approach. Engage with your audience, seek feedback, and don't hesitate to reach out to other poets or creators for advice or collaboration. Your unique voice and perspective have value, and with dedication and perseverance, you can find your own path to success on Instagram or any other platform. Keep sharing your poems with the world, and who knows? Maybe you'll find your audience sooner than you think.

I need lots of luck then. I’ve been messaged by someone telling me they can give me lots of followers and likes…for money of course. No way am I paying anyone to get likes or followers.

@celticeagle I don’t know if that info is even available there. Maybe only person whose account it is can access that info.

I'm wondering if you submit poems to any of the hundreds of places (many who pay) or to contests listed on submittable?

I have not done that. Don’t even know what they are.

@lovebuglena I'm sorry it makes you feel that way. Growing a following takes time. Don't give up.

@just4him One thing that I think is true is that it doesn't matter how great what you post is or how great a book you publish is. It's about how well you can market yourself and/or your book. And I am not great at marketing.

Yeah. It’s disappointing. Makes me not want to bother posting anymore.

It probably has taken quite a while to get the following that she has. Good luck and have a great day.

Maybe. Or perhaps she is one of those overnight successes. Like you post something and it goes viral and you start getting tons of followers.
