If you could talk to one of your living idols, who would it be?

For some reason, I was musing about how much fun it would be to have a long conversation with Bruce Cockburn this morning. Some of you may not have heard of him, but he is one of my favorite musicians. He is still alive, and still making music, but he has back problems, and was hunched over last time I saw him perform. He went to Berklee School of music (in Boston, I believe) and is a Christian musician influenced by folk, rock, reggae, jazz, and whatever I am forgetting. He and I had a brief conversation after one of his concerts in Santa Barbara in the 1980s, but he is one of the people I would love to sit around and chat with right now. I will attach a spiritual song of his I've been working on recently. I have never performed it, but think I could. I can do the chords and the finger-style playing. And I think I have the words memorized. If you could chat with one of your idols, maybe over Thai food or a cheeseburger, who would it be. That could include a favorite writer, musician, athlete, soap opera star, actor, politician, professional wrestler, etc. It doesn't matter.

As for me, I could answer that as, I'll talk to myself, truly because, in my head I get my own conversation

I can't decide who I would like to talk to, I suppose I would not mind chatting with Bruce Springsteen or Billy Joel since I write a lot of poetry and see what they think of my stuff and just chat about anything that comes to mind. If an author it would definitely be either Ann Rice or Stephen King and see how they wrap their minds on all they write about. I have a very vivid imagination and there have been times when I really wished suddenly I had the talent to talk to my cats. I think a story from a cats actual viewpoint would be incredible,

@TheHorse then you have to agree that it would be some experience if one day for some reason you suddenly understood everything she was telling you.

Well, it certainly wouldn't be a politician, that's for sure! But I've always loved Tom Selleck and would really enjoy some time with him.

@TheHorse Back in the 80's I think, he was Magnum PI and I had a huge crush on him. But he's a strong Christian, married for many years, and a great patriot.

I've thought it would be interesting to talk to Brad Pitt. But most of the people I'd want to chat with would not be actors.

Why Tom Selleck, by the way? I don't really know his "body of work."

@TheHorse My bad, as the hipsters say. Oh- most anyone who does NOT say "No worries!" is on my good list.

Robin Cook or Elton John. I'd rather talk to John Lennon; but he's not with us anymore. Robin Cook is one of my favorite writers. He was/is a doctor and his books are very medically detailed; and I love books with a medical background. Have a good day.

Thats pretty cool and while I would like to go with others. Contrary to popular belief they like their names out of the headlines, but some believe its important. Plus some think working for them is selling into them where other bands believe in hard work, they just want a fair shake. These the people I would like to talk to because do not sell out for anything and the whole time tried so hard to keep the American Dream real. I wish I could show a better video with no in between comments but people to scared to let people just form a opinion on their own.

I like his music. I don't know who I'd like to have a conversation with I have a doctor friend. She has gone on trips to Africa ( I forget which country,) to teach medicine, raised money for particular medical equipment and taught the local doctors to use it. She works hard in our far North trying to improve the medical care in remote areas. And she does lots of hiking and travelling. I do get to talk to her sometimes and she's amazing.

I can't think of anyone off the top of my head that I would like to talk with. I'm pretty much a shy introverted person so to speak with someone I admire would be a challenge.

I have one more person I would LOVE to talk to, but again, unfortunately he's deceased. It is Bach. He has composed some of the most wonderful music that I adore. The Tocata and the Fuge are two that stand out in my mind right now, I would always play them when I drove around in my Subaru station wagon. I have a collection of CD's from various composers of that era...and I love them all dearly.

I would love to meet with the Steiff family. They are teddy bear designers that are in Germany. I got to talk to my top artist, Steve Schutt, a while ago. I met him at a teddy bear making workshop my Mom surprised me with giving me a ticket to. I had a wonderful time and made a super bear. I would love to be able to talk to him again, except he passed away from cancer around 2009. I mourned him deeply, he had a sense of whimsey that showed in his bears. I keep watching for his bears to show up on the secondary market, I lost the one I had when the power company burned down my home.

I would like to have a deep conversation with Lindsay Lohan. I loved her after watching "Freaky Friday." I was sad when she got herself tangled on some issues. I wanted to know what happened to her and why did it happen.
