Palm uses its own operating system (with the exception of its Treo smartphone which also uses Windows Mobile) which is very easy to use, even for novices. PocketPC runs on Windows Mobile. If you are familiar with Windows, then you will be very familiar with the look-and-feel of PocketPC. PocketPC does come with several Windows-based applications that you can easily sync with (such as with Outlook), while Palm offers connectivity through mostly third-party software. Depending on your need, you may opt for one versus the other. I would go to a local computer store, and try a few with a salesperson helping you.
