Do any of you have the cake doctor book? I love this book. It helps you take a box mix and add extra ingredients to make it taste homemade. Also the icings in it are delicious. I made a white cake with their pan cooked chocolate icing the other day and it is all gone!!! The icing was like the old homemade hard chocolate icing and my family loved it. The caramel icing is really good too and the strawberry cake with strawberries in the mix is wonderful. If you don't have this book I would highly recommend it and if you do, what cakes and icings are your favorite in it?

Author is Anne Byrn. Copyright 1999. ISBN 0-7611-1719-9(pb) Workman Publishing Co., Inc. www.workman.com I love this book because you actually use cake mixes that are doctored up and easy with easy icings. Also a lot of bundt cakes that are easy to use with the cake mixes. Hope you will enjoy it. Thanks for responding.

Everyone I know loves cakes of all types ans sizes. And in my family we are always making cakes. My mom used to have one made every few days. So whenever someone has a sweet tooth or hungary and wants to grab something fast they can but this book I haven't never heard of before but it sounds quite interesting and something me and my mother would love and with her birthday in a few weeks it would make a great gift. Thanks for the idea and it would be great if you had put a cake and/or a icing recipe on mylot.

I think she would love it and here is my favorite icing from the book: Chocolate Pan Frosting 8 tablespoons (1 stick) butter 4 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder 1/3 cup whole milk 4 cups confectioners' sugar sifted. 1. Place the butter in a medium saucepan and melt over low heat, 2-3 minutes (I use a double boiler). Stir in the cocoa powder and milk. Let the mixture come just to a boil, stirring and then remove the pan from the head. Stir in the confectioners' sugar until the frosting is thickened and smooth. (I continue to keep this on my double boiler until I am ready to actually ice the cake.) 2. Pour the warm frosting over the top of a cooled cake of your choice, spreading it with a spatula so that it reaches all sides of the cake. Work quickly because this frosting goes on best while still warm. Hope you enjoy it! This is similar to the old recipes of cooked chocolate icing and tastes just as great!

I never heard of this book. What year was it published and by what company. I will try to purchase it. I love to bake cakes. I use a whipped cream that I make from scratch. I was a cake decorator, so I love to make the cakes fancy and pretty too.

I received this book along with a bundt pan as a shower gift. It has lots of fun and tasty ideas. It reminds me of the recipes on the show Semi-Homemade with Sandra Lee on the Food Network.
