Stephen King wrote the book and from what I understand the screenplay as well. I know many people are shocked when they find out it was him because it is very different from what most expect from him. They think horror not this dramatic movie. There are so many good scenes in the movie. I like the whole thing actually. One of my favorites though is when Coffee and Paul are talking before Coffee's execution and how tired Coffee was of the world and the pain in it. The acting there by both even though Hanks doesn't say much is incredible. They really played well off each other and it made the scene even more powerful because of it.

It originally came out as a chapter book. These used to be circulated in the 1950s. King wanted to experiment with the concept. Stephen King wrote the book and also had alot to do with the screenplay that is why the movie was so well made. He would not let them trash the story like they had done others. The best scene to me was when they took the prisoner to the house and he healed the wardens wife.

Hi there! Well the best scene of this movie as I see is the ending where John Coffee gets ready to the execution chamber. It was very touching when he walks to the room and speaks to his friend guards and he seems to be so calm and innocent. That scene really made me cry till he gets executed for nothing. Regarding the writer, who else it's going to be, it was the renowned writer Stephen King. He is one hell of a creator in terms of thought and uniquiness. There's no match for this guy. You wanna know more then write to me. Take care... Regards, Nazim...

Its been to long since I've seen it to offer a best scene, but I believe it was based on Stephen King's book series, not sure who adapted it for the film.
