Well, I also know the names of the parents of my great grandparents but only on the paternal side, not on maternal side. I wish I could have. Its a nice feeling when you know and pronounce the names of your great great great parents.

:( I wish I could go back that far, however I only know the names of my grandparents. I think it would be great to trace my family history and find out where our roots stem from. It would be a fun project to work on.

I think I am going to surprise you, lol.I know only till 3 generations ,but my dad knows the names till 8 generations although he keeps forgetting some.My aunt however, knows 14 generations of our ancestors names, lol and she never forgets any of them. Can you believe it?? I would have thought that would lead us to our primeval ancestors, the ones with the tails, lol.Hope they don't mind too much being dragged into this,lol:-P So,whenever I need to know about any of them I just get in touch with my aunt and voila! You have a readymade thesis paper for geneology, lol.

I know all of my ancestors from the mid 1800's up until now. I've been working on both sides (Mom's and Dad's) for a couple of years now. I am having trouble getting past where they emigrated to America because my Dad's surname was changed a little bit by the authorities when the boat got here. (I understand that was common for them to do that back then.) I haven't worked on the genealogy project at all this winter, but I'm hopeful I'll get back to it and find out more.
