Some friends of mine had their first child last year. They had a son... Being that I haven't bought baby clothes in a while, It was really exciting to get out there and buy some cute clothes for him... I went to a few stores and what I realized the boys clothes sections are not as big as the little girls sections...Is it that for boys designers are not as creative with boy clothing or what... My son was born in 1995, and it was that way then. I was always at stores looking around for clothes and just on impulse, I would glance over and the huge selection of cute little girl clothes taking up alot of area... If you have a child(ren) or buy for a child(ren), have you ever noticed that yourself?

I have definately noticed this too. There are much cuter clothes for girls than boys. It takes more effort but you can find some cute baby clothes for boys. Try looking on line too. I think the same is true for men and womens clothes. There are way more clothes and styles for women than men. However, I have noticed in the last couple of years more mens clothing at the department stores.

Yes that is true, Someone need to get on the ball and start making more male clothes...More women designers are coming out and of course they are going to make clothes for their gender...I admit there are some that can do both but nowhere as near as many women/girl clothing that is out now...thank you for responding

Yes, girl's seem to have more choices of clothes than boys do. Even in 2007, boys don't have much to choose from. But i can tell you one thing... it's still wonderful to shop for baby clothes. I love it, i always have... and i probably always will.

I buy most of my children's clothing at Gymboree. While I do think that the girl's selection is better than the boy's, they do have some really cute things for the little guys. My older son is 6 now and won't wear their clothing much, he likes to dress like a "big" boy.

I went to the store the other day,to buy a baby gift for my daughter a boy. This is her second boy. And I had the same problem as I did with her first boy. There is just not very many boy clothes at all. But when you look at the girl baby clothes there is tons and tons of colthes. I dont no why there is never many boy clothes to choose from.

I know what you mean, It seems like if the little girls have skirts, and capris and pants and such...Why not just make more different styles of pants..But heh what do I know...I will say if I had the skills to design clothes for boys, I would make sure some of these stores were filled...Furthermore I know some of these designer of clothes got to have boys, seems like they would see the same thing we see and would want to change it..lol but I guess not as important...thank you for responding

boys clothes are really that simple and not as coloful as girl's clothes because designers may not want to overdress the boys as much as parents do also. i think it is just natural thing that boys clothes are made that way. otherwise, it will not look good on them and maybe overly dressed/clothed.

That could be true, but just as the girls, they overdo it, all the colors and such...Boys should have a chance too..lol..at least try...who really knows....thank you for responding

Yes, I have both a boy and girl and I have a lot more fun shopping for girl clothes. In fact today I was at Kohl's and I had to search for the TINY section of toddler boy's clothes. Meanwhile the girls racks were overflowing.

Yes, as a grandma I have noticed this. All I can say is the clothes for boys are a lot better than they were when my boys were little. The tendency now seems to be to dress them in jeans and shirts, so they look like little men! I think that's ok, though.

Yes I have noticed it. Their are more girls clothes then Boys cloths. It's also that you have more collors in girls cloths than in boys cloths. For boys the colors are dark and sad. For girls bright and colorfull. My son is a blond one and I don't like the dark colors. So when he was young I mad a lot off it myself. Nowadays he doesn't like that anymore.

No I think it depends where you shop. I have found alot of neat baby clothes for boys. Little phat farm outfits and all that. Of course I buy my childrens clothes from hip hop stores around here and little nike shoes. So really I think it all depends the style and where you shop that will determine where to find boys clothes.

Ithink it`s always been that way my oldest son is almost 25 ane even back then girls clothes were the dominant type of clothes in most stores but there are a few good stores now that sell the smartest boys wear and they are so cute

I have noticed the girls section being larger than the boys section. As I have two boys and a girl. Shopping for my daughter is easy and can be done in one store. But the boys I usually have to go to several stores to get all their shopping done. Is there a male shortage that causes stores to carry more girl clothing than boys clothing?

yeah i have! its so hard to buy for my son cause places like walmart sell mostly little girl clothes. so i mostly go to a second hand store that sells gently used clothes. they have really cute clothes there, and i did alot of my shopping there when i was pregnant. i still go there and he is 4 months old.

Thank GOODNESS I'm not the only one who feels this way! I have a son who is 15 months old, and I find it so difficult to buy clothes for him! The stores are filled with racks of girls clothes, and maybe two or three rows of boys clothes. I have found one exception to this, and that is Old Navy. They have a wide selection of infant/toddler boy clothes. I have done most of my shopping for my son there, and have been very pleased with what I found. Also, the Carters store is really great when it comes to having a good selection of boy's clothes.

Yes I agree with you. there is not a huge selection with boy clothing. Some stores are better then others...It's a big search, I was so happy when my son got older, the selection is way better than when he was a toddler/infant

yes i have noticed that when u look for girls clothes they have tremendous supply of it..while for the boys department its just like half of the space they provide for girls..its because for boys u only have two choices for bottoms..shorts and pants..thats it.and for the tops it would polos or shirts right..while for the girls, bottoms would be skirts,pants,shorts,dresses..tops would be those spaghetti strap ones, shirts, polo shirts, flimsy tops..so maybe thats the reason we have more choices for girls when we go to the mall.

I agree with you I have a son and I cant find anything as cute as what they make in girls. I dont understand why they do this. Boys are just as beautiful as girls. Some times It makes me want to have a little girl next time. I hope that soon they see that sexes are equal. They need to either limit girl clothing or expand boys.

I tried to find my 4 yr old son something cute for Christmas, I would have settled for a sweater with a snowman on it would have been okay. It is very frustrating trying to find something for class pictures and that sort of thing.

Yes it is...I know myself had a hard time...I would always buy something i saw and if I needed either the pants or top, just stick that item in his closet until I spotted something else the next time I was out..It was horrible at times even depressing. I know how you felt...thank you for responding

Oh yes-- Girls clothes are much cuter and there are tons more. I love the variety of the clothing they have for girls. I have only 1 child- a daughter. But I have 3 nephews-- It is not near as fun picking out clothes for them.. A great place where they have some gorgeous clothes for is The Childrens Place-- Have you checked them out? They have some great choices for boys. I agree the Wal-Marts and Targets just don't have alot of choice or variety for boys clothing.

I've noticed that there are more cute outfits for girls and not that many to choose from for little boys. It's really not fair but perhaps because there are more women in the world, it really is just right.

I have a baby boy and I find it very difficult to buy clothes for him. The girls have so much more and they also seem to offer a variety of sizes vs the boys clothing. You may get a couple racks of boys clothes and many, many racks of girls. I also notice it is hard to buy boys clothes that doesn't have characters, saysing, etc. on them. I am just looking for plain clothes. One more thing I find is it seems people are always giving away girls clothes on freecycle but never boys..lol. Oh well, I hope my second child will be a girl. ;)
