I haven't read "Red Dragon", "Silence of the Lambs" or "Hannibal", but I went ahead and read "Hannibal Rising". I was so very glad that it wasn't completely gory as I don't think I would have enjoyed it as much as I did had it been. I felt so bad for him after his sister was eaten, and he was never quite able to remember what happened to her. I have to admit that when he was going after the men that ate her, I was cheering him on. I felt like he should have totally enacted his revenge on them. Although while I was glad it wasn't gory, I would have liked a bit more details in regards to these men. I thought it only fitting they got what they deserved. I think it was a really interesting insight into why Hannibal became a cannibal, what got him started on his life as a sociopath/psychopath. I would recommend reading this if you haven't already. What did everyone else think of the book? I myself am so excited for the movie now.

I wasn't sure i'd like it, as I normally don't read those sort of books. I was really surprised, especially when I never wanted to put it down.

I thought it was kind of confusing at first but the more I read the more I liked it. I do, however, prefer more gore than it had but they did a good job with it. Yes, I felt bad for his sister and understand why he was such a qiuet guy now. I cheered him on as well when he was taking care of those men.. but did anyone notice about the step-mother?? Didn't she help him with one on the boat after he was shot, I think it was.. I mean she killed one guy or more or less finished him off, didn't she?? Yet she left Hannibal because he choose to kill the last man I believe it was.. I don't think it fair of the step-mother at all. I now can't wait to see the movie.
