Does love have a reason?

This was originally posted on my blog http://silentwill.blogdrive.com/archive/103.html I don't know why but I love you I remember you told me that you don't know why I love you, that you didn't do anything for me to feel this way about you. Sometimes, I wonder about that too. And though I can name countless things that I love about you, I can't pinpoint one that can make me say "This is it! This is why I love you!" Perhaps because there isn't a single reason, that it's all because of everything about you. Or maybe there is no reason at all. Maybe love really is not something we can rationalize. After all, thinking isn't what the heart is made for. That's probably why try as we may to teach our hearts who to love, who not to love, how to love, how not to love, when to love, or when to stop loving, all of that would be in vain. Because a heart does not comprehend any other language. It's only capable of feeling, that's the only thing it understands. What do you think? Does love have a reason? One that we can say without a doubt is why we love the other person?

i don't think love has just one reason...in fact, with all the reasons you could mention, i think that it is only true love if you can't give a reason at all. the most honest statement made by someone truly in love is "i don't know why i love you, i just know that i do"

One is loved because one is loved. One do not need a reason to love. One may say, I love you because you are so caring. But that is just trying to quantify love. Which cannot be done. I cannot say I love you 1054 units of love, because the forces of 100 caring, 452good listener, 145good on bed, and the rest for always being there! Surely this cannot be done. As I said, one is loved because one is loved.

you impressed me, hahaha my man always asked me why i love him...and honestly im sort of lost with words on how i will describe it. yeah you are right, we cannot quantify love, it just there the moment you feel it, that's it. there should be nothing more and nothing less when we express love.

Looks like everyone agrees. Yeah it's really hard to tell why we love the people we love.

Any reason may vary. Sometimes we can just love the person because of her ways of dealing with people and things, because of her sense of humor, her being generous, her beauty and being gentle and such. It could be our good feeling about her. This kind of good feeling about someone accumulated adds to our love to someone. Thanks for the discussion.

I personally believe that LOVE has prerequisites. Through friendship comes acceptance, then follows trust and respect, then eventually, it will be LOVE. But sometimes, it depends. Most do not reach the LOVE level, and they often fail in getting to know process because of differences. There are reasons why you like each other, but there are no enough reason for you to love each other. Words cannot explain it. It's just the heart that understands. ^_^

Love doesn't need any reason because what if the reason for loving that person was gone? Well, love in that case is a petty and immature one.
