So I am always getting tons of telemarketer calls a day, which I hate, but now I have them calling the house and when I answer the phone they hang up. So in turn, thinking that it was somebody important, I call back the number only to be presented by me calling a telemarketer, anybody had this happen to them lately?? I hate it!

yeah they seem to try every trick in the friggen book now don't they.... I rarely get calls now from telemarketers because i decided one day that i was going to make me laugh, and worry them... Here's how it went: Them: Hi there, blah blah blah Me: Hi, Oh S***, My Cat's On Fire!!!! I have to go Bye!!! Well, one called back the next day to find out how the cat was... i did this to several of them... now, i'm not really bothered. You should try it, if they ever talk haha, it's fun, and gets them off your back.

Oh, my god. That's a good one. I'm surprised that they actually called back to ask about your cat, though. :o

A friend told me that it's an automated system calling you, just to check and see at what times you're home and answering your phone. Then a live person calls at those times. If I don't recognize a number calling, I let it go to voice mail. If they don't leave a voice mail, I figure it's not important and don't worry about it.

I have never had this happened to me. Don't call the number unless it is on you recongize. You have voice mail right. Anyone important would leave you a voice mail and you could check it immediately.

At this time i only have a cell phone but when i did have a home phone i was swamped with these calls and it is very annoying. I could spend a whole day with nobody calling me but them morons, i would get more calls from them than family.

hi my friend gave me this site. www.donotcall.gov you can put 3 numbers you dont want calling you and for 5 years the telemarketers cannot call that number(yours) and for your cell phone its 888-382-1222 as she said that cell phone companies where giving telemarketers rights all cell numbers. this will block all of them for the same amount of time. hope this helps you, did for me. IM TELEMARKETER FREEEEEEEEEE

here in sweden we can sign up our number for free on a list, and if u are on this list NO telemarketers are allowed by law to call your number - it is soooooo good =)

I've never had this happen to me, however if someone hangs up in my ear, I wouldn't call them back either. Most times if the number comes up and it's one I don't recognize, I don't answer it anyway. I have an answering machine and I figure if it's important, they'll leave me a message.

This seems to be a new technique, but the problem is not everybody will be having a caller I.D., in India there will be hardly 10% of the population who will have this facility, so we may not face this problem in the near future.
