Your Thoughts on Getting Old

Philippines

We grow old every day or should I say every second. Growing old is something we cannot stop, nor delay. We age as the clock ticks. Do you fear getting old? Do you fear not being able to do the things you normally and ably do now? Do you fear having to loose your pearl white teeth and your black or colored hair turned into gray? We may not really think of this fact so often because of our busy lives. But if you are to ponder on growing old right now, what comes in your mind? How do you deal with getting old everyday?

I'm 39. I've been on a crusade for 4 years to not grow old anymore. So far, it isnt working, but as with all crusades, I am committed now

how will you not grow old? i mean we cannot stop aging. there are plenty of products out in the market than can at least help delay only the signs of aging but not aging itself.

Growing old terrifies me! I'll be 35 soon, very soon and I'm not looking forward to it. I always get a little depressed around this time of year. My face isn't as firm, my body (especially after having children) isn't the same either.I don't want to grow old and die. I'm even thinking alot more about my parents and when their time comes. I wish it would never happen. I worry for them every day. I still feel young inside but so old on the outside. Does anyone else feel that way?

I know I am getting older every day, but I don't fear it. As a matter of fact I seldom think about it. I am making the most of the years I have left and I try to enjoy them as much as possible. My hair is already turning grey, which I don't mind, and my dentist takes care to keep my teeth nice and white. I have had a good like and I don't mind growing old.

What comes to me right now is losing my faculties, i.e not being able to go to the toilet with help or assistance, not being able to climb the stairs and having to rely on someone else for my day to day living. I am extremely independent and it would hell not being able to do basic things for myself. Teeth and hair I can live with or live without as the case may be!

well same is true with me wolfie. i am also very independent and the thought of being dependent on someone worries me too. i do things all by myself most of the time, especially now that am studying in a far place, away from my real home.

I do worry about getting old. I worry about not being able to just get up and walk to shops, and losing my memory. I'm not worried about the physical changes in my body. There isn't anything we can do about them and we just have to accept that they will happen.

The only time thing I fear about getting old is that my family might forget me and leave me in a shelter. I also fear of getting old and not accomplishing what I wanted when I was young.

yes merkava.. i also fear of getting old and counting my last few days inside a nursing home. i was supposed to spend that days with my loved ones but if they'll gonna bring me to a shelter.. i think i wont allow it! i wil raise my kids and put in their minds that they should care for their parents, not obliged but with respect and love til the end.

Getting old in itself is a great thing to happen to a healthy and happy person. The idea is to get old gracefully. There is nothing wrong in losing teeth or your hair greying. It is all in the game during one's second childhood. I love old people, they are so much experienced and patient, i cant wait to have their patience. I have to be patient to get their patience. That is the beauty of old age.

Yes It is a fact that We neglect This fact about our lives. We are getting old everymoment. I think that Our Approach Should be Positive and we should be Optimistic abut Our "Oldself". As in my case, I always pray to God That may He never Makemedependent of anyone other.. Thats All If I be able To do My work By Myself I will not have any problem..

I am just 25 and I don't fear getting old as it is a natural phenomenon and if I start thinking that I am getting old possibly I won't be able to think on other things which are dear to me. Every thing has some positive points with it and we should see the positive side of each and every thing so is the case here. With every second that is passing I am growing old but I am gaining experiences of life, with every hair of mine that grays I can say it was worth the experience I got from life, when time comes when I won't be able to even sit properly there would be someone by my side to help me out(wife or children). So enjoy life and don't let the fear of getting old overtake the experience you get throughout the life.

I want to grow old gracefully. I will color my hair when the grey starts to take over and I would like to have a classic look. I am not going to worry about most things. My grandmother still rode with us when she was 87. It was just the last 6 years of her life that she started to get tired and feeling old. I think alot of it is in our heads.

Its a truth in our life. If we get birth then we wil become older day by day then finally we wil die. As per my view i think Childhood is the Golden time in our life coz we dont have any responsiblity either for family or for society. what ever we need we get that by our parents and we all lioke this due to this factor. in this period i think no one can forget the golden moments spend in school. Then our Youth. i think its the busiest moment in our life coz during this period we run behind society status, earning money, love, feelings, emotions and all. its is the fountation for our old age. if we cant utilise it properly then our old age will be in proiblem Then Finally our old age comes which is the darkest moment in our life

as time passes, we shall all grow older... its something we can never stop, so y should we be afraid ? it happens to everyone yet some fear it while others embrace it. im only 17 and i dont fear getting old... what i fear is letting the years pass by without doing anything productive for God's kingdom, my family, friends, my education n my life. however... i think it'll be a lil scary not to be able to do the things i can do now... like dancing, singing, playing, shopping... but at least i'll have the memories... and when im old im sure i'll find things to do... i'll always have my church... n tv !! hehehe... i dont mind my hair turning gray cos there's always hair dye... but i love my teeth !! i really dont wana lose them lol... i dont really deal with getting old everyday as its not an issue on my mind but when i get older im sure i will but i know id just remind myself that as long as im making a difference and not wasting my life then y should i fear the inevitable ? hope that answered ur questions ! if so pls rate ! =) thanks ! take care n God Bless !! ~maRian

Hey ! As a matter of fact .. it freaks me out just the thought that one day i`ll be like my grandmother .. or who knows .. having to take lots of medicines just to walk a few steps or to do some insignificant stuff .. that i do now without even bothering .. I sincerly hope that life will pass slowly by me .. so i`ll be able to enjoy every second that leads me to the inevitable old me .

I dont think about it because it doesnt phase me....I have no problem with aging really in fact I'm quite proud of myself for still being around TO age LOL...Besides, I'm very much a "your only as old as you feel" type person so rather than being a woman in my late 30's I'm a woman who can still enjoy life like an awe-filled child....I did my growing up VERY young by force so now its my time to enjoy life liek I didnt get to all those yrs ago...I'll be 40 before i know it and its not a big deal at all

We all grow old, that's a fact. In terms of physical appearance, I don't fear of it for I know we cannot stop aging. We are born, grow and evntually die. That's life. So, no matter how I keep my physical appearance youthful, it's useless for we all die. I'm 23 now, and I worry about getting old not having learned what life is all about. I fear of not learning from experiences. I fear of not giving future for my siblings when i get old. So these fears lurks within me and I start working on living my life worthwhile.

For now.. I really can't say... Im only 24 so, getting old is really not yet on my "fear list". But definitely I am worried that time will come, I will eventually forget my granddaughter's name or mix them up... So as early as now, I want to live my life to the fullest and absorb all the things I learn in life everday...
