I have nothing against being a medical transcriptionist.. I myself is a medical transcriptionist.. I have a profession in Medical Technologist but because salary is scarce, i shifted to medical transcription. Most of the professional in the country like PT, OT, RT, pharmacist, biologist are not working in their field...they become medical transcriptionist. Doctors to become medical transcriptionist...c'mon.. We look up to doctors..let them be what they are... Let me hear what people say about the statement of the PRESIDENT OF THE PHILIPPINES to our Doctors.. " Don't leave the Philippines, be a medical transcriptionist" can you do something?

It is because the Philippines is expecting to corner a good share of this transcription market in the coming years as we are moving from a purely call center type to a much broader industry called BPO. There are some transcriptionists I know that are earning more than p20TH and of course those who got the ability to lead and teach others receive much higher. Certainly, the country needs qualified medical people to be at the backbone of the industry. The country needs leaders in thie field. That statement from Gloria is an invitation for medical people to take a look at this industry. Some doctors are working on this on a part-time basis to supplement their income while still continuing their practice. or they could groupd themselves (like a corporative) to exploit the global demand. Why always think negative first?

It is not being negative... but let's not make believe that medical transcriptionist are earning that much... those who earn P20T are medical editor, those who have 5 years experience... Transcriptionist itself just earning minimum..mostly those who just finished the course... It is not being negative..just telling what's really behind medical transcription..

I would like to comment on this, but I would rather hear the whole story first. Do you have any links that I might read? You see, recently I have been avoiding local news. All this news story about politics and James Yap has taken its toll on me. Too much crap. So I guess I miss this other story. Can you give me more details, if you can't provide any links. Thanks

Now, employers required those who undergo training and schools.. and they get salary starts 7T as entry level... if you are experience medical transcriptionist it goes up around 10T and if you are an editor salary is 15T at the most... it is not true that medical transcriptionist earn a lot... it depends if you have direct clients...
