Ever wonder if the avatar photos that some people have are really from them? Some avatar we can see that are just pictures of things that the person feels related to, but the ones that are person photos, are this photos from the person you speaking to? Of course a person can choose any photo to put in the avatar, but why use a photo that is not from him/her?

Well, I'm not really expecting everybody here on mylot to post their own photo on their avatars, and as obviously seen there are quite a few who use different kinds of photos from flowers, animals, cartoons and all those stuffs..and yeah I've also seen photos of really good looking and model-like avatars...like you I wonder if they're really theirs...well, that's their choice..it could be that they wanted complete privacy, or it could also be that they love the photos they're using as avatars more than their real photo... LOL anyways, don't worry bout mine...that's my real photo as it doesn't appear to be real good looking. :P

It's always a choice of the user. And it's not that usual to find real photos of the person in their avatars.

Yes i think many of the "personal" photos here in mylot are obvious fakes, especially with lovely ladies photos where they may be men or older women, etc. I believe that if someone doesn't want to include his/her real photo they should put something else but not a fake photo, it's kind of cheating and really not a nice thing to do although it might not be against any posted guidelines and rules of mylot.

I think the same way as you. It is more to call attention then anything else.

Nope. they are all downloaded from different sites. Which in case can be of personal use only and not to be commercialized.

Lots of people don't use a picture of themselves. Like your self, unlesss you really are Roger Rabbit lol. I choose my avitar because she is very special to me. Most people pick pictures of someone they respect or actors/models that they really like.

Well I must admit my avator is a pic of me. I am not worried about showing my avator off simple cause I believe it makes what I do more believable. I mean they see the real person and know who they are talking to Never had any problems with adding my pic to anything or my real first name Wendy

Yes you are right. Putting the real photo makes us more believable. And it's good to know that you have never had a problem with that.

Well considering what the person is my avatar looks like I'm fairly certain no one would assume I picked some model's photo for my avatar. I think that a lot of the people who use real people here are actually using their photos. There are those of course using actors and actresses that they like, but if the majority of them you can't regecognize than odds are they're the person.

Don't you think that by using a avatar photo of some supermodel they want to foul as in thinking that they are supermodels? Or they just like a particular supermodel and for that they are doing an homage?

I think it is not very wise to put up your real photograph on a public forum.Privacy is very important. As you can clearly see that I closely resemble Van Persie R. lol.

RogerTheRabbit, I started a similar discussion weeks ago about members who use other people's photo. ( It was not my attention to paraphrase yours and I do apologize) When using the search nothing came up. I started my discussion after seeing many members use photos that were not them. The photo in my profile is a picture of me. I actually just changed mine today. The other pic I had up was me too. I don't understand why people post pics that are not them. Little do they know that using someone's pic is a violation & could put that person in danger. Good discussion Mr. Rabbit!

Most of them use the avatar of others to call attention to their discussions and I can bet there are a lot of user who use avatar of young ladies to call attention not only to discussion but also to the profile. But as some already stated some people use this picture because they are fans of the person or feel some sympathy. But most of the type that is not the case.
