We actually use them for both. Although that's mainly my wife there! We keep them for emergency's, because although the flashlights have batteries, you just never know. But also, for aesthetic purposes, for that soft ambient light in the evening, and for scent. My wife keeps fresh flowers in the house, but it's also nice to have that smell from the candles too.

In my hometown country, I normally use them for light purposes because sometimes we get to have what we call "brownouts" or in your term: Blackouts. (False of electricity in the city.)

i would choose to make it as a decorative ornaments in my space since it is quite risky using it for ligthing, there are practical ways to achieve an effect with electrical illumination but i use a candle for practical reasons if there is a power failure and to rid off smelly odor, and ward of flies.

Normally, candles are primarily used for lighting up your area, whether it is small or big. Now candles have a lot of designs and colors to choose from as an art or decorations. Well, as for me, I use them both. Well, I never lit the candles if they are so beautiful as it is nice for a decoration in a room that is. Gel cancles wow... now that is an issue that I've been hearing all time long.

yeah..i have collection of candles at home. but not that too many. i just bought candles that is very unique to my eyes. and then i give it to my mom so that she will be the one who will display at home. We are more on displaying the candles and use as a decoration.

in my native place there is power failure often so we use candles for light but in the city it is more of a decoration if u want a romantic setting at your place just get out those aromatic candles and see the mood becoming romantic

Actually, i tend to sue candles more for their scent! I do use them as decoration when they're not lit, and i also use them for the ambiant light they give off when they're lit, as lit candles make a lovely atmosphere. I do have some non-scented, non-fancy candles in just in case there;s a power cut too, of course!

I love candles for both, as I think they look lovely when they burn but I do have some that I would never light as I think they look good as orniments. I think there must be something mystical or primitive about candles, when my mom was dying a few years ago I had a table full of candles that I lit for her, I don't know where the desire to do that came from as we are not catholics. I always light a candle for people and send them good wishes if they are ill or have problems.

I tend to use candles for decoration...but mainly for the scents. I rarely burn them anymore though; I now use candle warmers instead of burning them. The scent is greatly emitted thoughout the room, and the candle last much longer!
