Ouija boards, a porthole to hell, or an enlightening truth?

This is a discussion on Ouija boards. this is not a discussion on critisism, on the realms of hell, because first and foremost, I do not believe in a hell. so, discussion on this matter of going to hell is irreverent. Nor do I want to hear about "possession" because in my twenty years of practicing the Ouija board, I can honestly say, I don't believe that either. I know there are plenty o stories out there, and I just have to shake my head. the superstitions of the Ouija board are just a hoax, in my humble opinion. However, I will tell you what I know. Indeed, there is a form of communication to "something" out there. In this vast universe, anything is possible! The Ouija board, in my humble opinion is the most perfet form of communication with entities we cannot see, in a different "realm" so to speak. remember, we as human individuals fear that which we do not understand. why? we do not fear praying to a GOD we have never seen, right? If there is any true communication to the other side, I think a ouija board should be re explored as a possibility, to greater discussion. I say, we bust the myths! what has been your experiences?

ouija boards are not something to be played with by the common person, they can let out bad spirits and if your not well enough protected you could put yourself in danger. A friend of mine played with one for a joke got a response from it then after about half an hour he put it away and went out the house when he came back the house had been trashed from top to bottom mirros smashed draws out and tipped on the floor, he hadn't been burgled as there were no broken windows or any forced doors, no one else had a key to the house and he didn't do it himself needless to say i never went in that house again.

You are so right. People need to leave ouija boards alone. My husband was staying with some friends that where using one and when he walked into the room it freaked out. It keeped saying F** you get out. When they asked it if it know him it said his name and that he was born on August 15 1985, he wasn't he was born in 1972 but was confirmed into his church on August 15 1985. It wouldn't calm done until he left the room. I used one with some friends as a kid and we had troubles with a spirit for almost 6 years until we went to a priest for help. My aunt was attacked by one, it flew off the table and hit her in the head as her and her friends walked away to go eat. Shortly after that my aunt had an out of body experience. Bad stuff for people to play with. You never know how is talking to you and you unleash things into the realm that you can't control. There is a reason that experts don't use them, you can't control what attaches itself to the board.

well, I can appreciate the responses, but I am telling you, for 20 years, I have been obsessed with them, and I am not possessed. Also, I have noticed there is telekinesis involved with these boards, at times. They have never harmed me in any way, but I doubt they are what most superstitious people believe about them. I am not an evil person, by any means, as a matter of fact, I am a very GOD humbled person, however I feel that our superstitions have led us away from ultimate truth. to prove my point, when I first started the ouija board, I drew a cross on the board, and wrote the words JESUS. just in case. I have not experienced any broken mirrors, or other poltergeist activities. and, I would think that "experts" should investigate actual phenomena, and go about understanding it, rather than unproven phenomena. but thanks for sharing your input.

When I was in Grade 8, some girlfriends and I "played" with a ouija board. Many years later, I went to see a psychic...she was reading my palm and said "you've touched a ouija board!" I admitted to it, and she told me never to touch one again, that it was evil to me. Kind of scared me and I've never touched one again.

First let me say, I respect your opinion nd you make VERY valid points!!!! A Ouija board is a tool that has been misconceived. And can have varying responses. So, even though you had good expeiences...does not mean there are no bad experiences either. Personally, I do have a board in my house. I have not used it for many years...the last time was with my friend some 6 years ago. But I still have it because I do NOT want to get rid of it. I have had good and bad experiences with the board. Good was meeting others that had some pretty interesting conversations. Bad...I really did have poltergeist activity. It is that activity that has prevented me from using it at my current residence. I have young children that could be scared by such activities. And even though I am experienced and know how to conduct myself, it can be very unpredictable. I can say though, things have come true when I spoke to one person con a daily basis many years ago. My father did pass away when predicted. As also did my friend's grandmother. But I have had other experiences where things would move, I would be frightened, threats were made...and it was just not pleasant. So, to those that have not used this tool...I would suggest that you not without a seasoned person to teach and guide you. And for those that are seasoned and have no had any bad experiences...please feel free to share your safe guards and I would like to be able to use this tool again but do not out of fear of getting the poltergeist results. And if you have any safe guards Saralee...I would love to read them and learn more! As I would like to again be able to use this tool that I know really does work. :)

Oh! And I don't believe in hell either...and nor do I believe that it is a portal to hell. I believe it is just a tool that does have the ability to connect one realm to another. :)

A Ouija Board is a tool, plain and simple. For those who can use it to access other realms, worlds, or spirits it can be an invaluable tool in order to communicate with those there. For those who cannot use it that way it can still be a tool for communication. It can quide them with their inner feelings and thoughts. It can aid them in finding answers that they seek within themselves. In either case the board allows for one to to seek the truth they need to find. No I don't think it's a portal to hell. I don't believe in Hell except for the one we have made here on earth. Can it let in evil? If someone has the skill to open to those realms and is not careful then yes it could happen but with the unskilled I doubt it.

Ouija Board - This is the type we used
I had a strange experience many years ago in Germany. My husband (who is German) and I were visiting some English friends who were renting an apartment which used to be part of the famous Nazi Hermann Goering's home. We were four couples of English and Americans my ex husband was the only German. Someone had an Ouija board and we thought it would be fun to try it out. We were a group of show business people, my ex spoke English with an American accent and all knew him by his stage name no-one except my self knew his real name or that he was German. The scene was set and we started to ask the board questions and got the usual yes and no responses..then the board kept spelling 'h e s s' over and over meanwhile my husband was acting weird, he went down on his knees and looked under the table for wires or anything to show it was a trick....nothing there. My ex's real name was Hess and he was related to the "good" Nazi Rudolf Hess. I can tell you all hell broke loose when we admitted that was our real name. Questions were asked and answered by the board. So no-one can tell me that the Ouija board is not real because I know IT IS!!!Photo Ouija Board

I believe that ouija boards are a communication tool. Too what we will communicate with is the concern I have. I have used a ouija board and communicated with people that have spelled out their names and answered various questions. Then I have gotten some strange comments from what I don't know.. One time we got "crawl not through this path" and then "blasphemy will survive thee" then we got "555 111 666 2" After that nothing for about 10 minutes so we gave up and put the board on the top of the fridge and were going to play cards. There were 4 of us and as we were cutting the card for the deal, the planchette flew off the fridge and landed on the table right in the middle. It seemed like an eternity that we all just sat their wide eyed staring at it. My girlfriends husband moved his hand to pick it up and all of a sudden my friend grabbed the planchette and slammed it down on her husbands hand making three bad bruised on his hand. She said she had no idea why she did it..she just did. It was very strange and the last time we used it. I've thought about using it again lately but I now don't have a board. I'm considering making my own..any thoughts on that? There is a great element of fear when I think about it but it also intrigues me.

hmmmm. Well, I have seen the planchette fly off of the board when I was a bit younger, hit the wall, and slide down. but, it did no harm to me, or anyone else in the room. I always hear dreaded stories of the Ouija board, but I have not have had the paranormal events so many people report. Last week, in a 30 minute session, the identity of the person on the board claimed to be my father, who passed away last November. It was asking me permission to enter my body, and of course, I objected. I had to laugh that one off. in a way it was freaky, but at the same time I know that you have to give permission for these entities to enter you. I would never do that. even after 20 years of using an Ouija board, I have learned you control that board, not that entity. If you think about it from a purely scientific viewpoint, this could very well be telekinesis, and you are exercising your mind to control that pointer. over time, you become stronger. that is one view point. another, is that you are actually contacting those who have passed, to communicate with them. I do not see the Ouija board as Good, or as Evil, it just exists. You can easily make your own Ouija board! as a matter of fact, you and someone else can even move objects around, as if they are a planchette! my husband and I conducted an experiment years ago after practicing with smaller objects. we can move 20 oz soda bottles, pens, paperclips, trash cans, and our last project was a heavy kitchen chair. just by placing our hands on it, we moved it an inch. practice with a friend, and be amazed! start with a playing card, or something small, and work your way up. it really makes me wonder if "the laying on of hands" does have some significance after all. (as practiced by some religions and groups). you need to eliminate the fear of the Ouija board to get a good reading. you need to laugh at fear, to truly understand. when you fear, you may put others in danger, if you are doing this.

I had an experience with one many years ago and I have never been so scared in all of my life. I even have a fear of repeating the experience to other people because I don’t want to have the feeling I felt at that time ever again. My fear was compounded by the fact that one month following my experience I walked in on a conversation where another lady was telling about her experience and it was identical… as if she had been in the very room with me. Just hearing her story made me have the same feelings all over again and there was not even a board in the room at that time. I broke down in tears and couldn’t even speak. I haven’t spoken about it again except to one other person who was a preacher of mine and he helped me moved passed it all. I won’t go near one ever again. Someday I know that I need to educate myself on the whole practice and I am sure I will read a book about it or something. That is the only way I know to give the fear that I have surrounding it, its proper place in my mind.

I guess what some people fear, I find amusing. I also practice foretelling the future sometimes, and I can barely remember what I predict. It is so weird for me though, when people I have read for, told me I was right about what I saw. Maybe I should write this stuff down!(LOL) but remember, anything is weird, when you first experience it. It takes much trial and error. kind of like flying for the first time. Some vow never to do it again!

i have used ouija boards before. i say used..never played with because its not somethign to play with even if it just a "board game" I personally think no matter how much people want to believe t is spirits dign it, i think it is the person moving the pointer, no matter how hard they try not to, they are. i read a study somewhere where they hooked people up and could tell when the people were pushing even if they people said they werent. it is a subconcious thing.

Well I'd like to say that I don't know about the Quija boards much because I have never used one. Mostly because I'm scared to and because I was brought up not to use them. I was brought up to do a lot of things which I have rebelled against. So, one day I'm sure I'll use one. It's amazing that you have used the Quija board for 20 years. It would be very interesting to communicate with a being not seen by us. I haven't seen a Quija board except for one time at Spencers so I don't know anything about them. I really want to know more about them and maybe sometime use one to see what happens.

I've played with the Ouija board for fun. I've chanted "Bloody Mary" into the mirror with a candle. I've played "Stiff as a Board, Light as a feather." Nothing happened in any instance. I do believe that to the right medium, the board can produce communication between this reality and the spirit world. My only fear is the held conclusion that it can let spirits into this reality and some of those spirits may not be peaceable. However, since you have been practicing the board for so long and nothing has happened, I would think you may be a very strong medium. My oldest daughter recently had a slumber party and we broke out the board. Again, nothing happened. I won't dismiss anyone's experiences. But I a skeptical, since I've never experienced anything personally.

I have a friend who is a seer. She would never charge anyone for her gift. I think most who put a price on it are faking it. It's a gift and should be given at need. THe only problem with my friend is that when she sees something bad, she hides. So if I can't contact her for a few days, I get paranoid.

well, I do not think there is anything different about me, than anyone else! well, except for the fact I have a strong interest in things unseen, and do not fear unusual stuff. I treat it the same as the wind blowing across my face, or the sun coming up in the morning. the thing is, that if there is fear in another person working the board(like my husband)it may at times have negative messages which I am not used to. and, I always have to send them out, but they leave quickly.

I dont think the ouija board is real. i mean i know its real, but its nothing special, it a board game to captivate our imaginations, people want to believe what they can't explain. I have played this game, and i think its alawys someone pushing the pointer, or subconciously pushing it around the board. although one time when i was playing it spelled out the name gor, and neither me nor my friend knew who or what that is, but it turns out he was a great warrior in history. But i doubt you can talk to spirits or entities through something parker brothers puts out for children. Just my opinion.

I will tell you my take on it. It is real, it is a portal. it is a fascinating subject to me, and creeps me out that it is a board game for children. but, like I said before, you do not even need a board, or the planchette. you can move ordinary objects on your desk around and even off your desk without a planchette, with no movement except light pressure from your fingers.

my mum and her sisters used a ouija board in the 70's. they contacted the spirit of a little girl called Ace. She said she was 8 years old and had a red beret. To this day she still pops up every now and then and she seems to follow one particular aunty around a lot. What I mean by 'popping up' and 'following around' is for example, my aunty was moving house, She'd put all of the books she was keeping in one box and the ones she was getting rid of in another box. One book she was getting rid of was a book on something to do with new age or something like that which had been given to her by a work colleague. When she was at the new house unpacking the books she'd kept, she came across this book that was in the 'throw out' box. She thought 'gee that's odd..' and as she flicked through it she noticed 'Ace' written in pencil in the back cover. She asked her colleague if he'd written anything in the book and he said no and that he'd gotten it brand new, read it once and given it to her. About 3 years ago i was house sitting the same aunt's house. I left one day to go to work. About half an hour later I realised I'd forgotten my wallet, so i went back to get it. When I went inside, the laundry door was shut-and locked. I asked my aunty later if the door often shuts and locks by itself, and she said no it can't lock by itself. She then said 'oh I don't wanna hear any more about it, weird stuff like that happens in this house all the time". My grandmother and her childhood friend were having a reunion a few years ago (they've both since passed-bless their souls), and g'ma's friend was staying in a hotel for the visit. After they'd met, g'ma;s friend's daughter said "i don't know what's wrong with mum, she's complaining about a little girl in the hotel annoying. she keeps saying 'tell her to go away, she's annoying me'" The daughter said 'mum there's no one here.' and her mother said 'yes there is she's wearing a red beret'.. etc etc...i used a ouija board a couple years back and asked for Ace. i said how old are you? The glass went to '8'. Although I don't do them anymore, I used to just talk to the spirits and say 'i want everyone to co-operate with me and i don't want any negativity. No negativity is allowed to come through' etc etc and I didn't have any bad experiences. Sometimes the glass moved really slowly and other times it moved quickly. Sometimes it even went right over the edge of the page and wouldn't stop! It's very interesting..very very interesting. Just be careful and do it with a true respect for the spirits..not just for fun.

Very interesting story! I wonder if there was more to Ace than your mother led on? maybe a childhood friend perhaps, or a relative? I have contacted quite a few spirits, some that seem like little children, because their spelling isn't all that great, and I am not talking about leaving vowels out and such! but, it is cute, because the word will pop in my head, and I will say it to affirm it. I am not always 100% right, and the spirit will correct me if I am wrong, but I think it is to give more respect to contact these spirits, than to ignore their existence. (for myself). maybe what I have is a special gift. I don't know. I guess if I am still doing this when I am 65, then it is for sure, a gift!

well, in school once, ages ago, one of my friends made a luigi board, by drawing a pic of luigi (from the mario. bros) and writing letters on it. Although a laugh, the teacher at the time took this very seriously, and from general chit-chat, these things arent to be messed with. They do seem to have something more powerful than meets the eye, and certain myths should be left unsolved. Im sure many college students think they can solve the myths, only to end up being completely spooked for years.

Ouija boards are famous in Thailand. I have seen the movie twice. It is a magic moving glass to each letter which we ask each time. That is slower than the medium's communication by meditation. But it is good for helping ourselves when there is no medium nearby. Heaven and hell are abstract noun words. I will explain and make more non-abstract noun way. It is said in my local or country that the heaven is in people’s chest, and the hell is in people’s heart, the present hell is what people have done illegal will be caught soon or later, it is either fast or slow, that person or people will sit in the jail. When people make a little donation, they will feel much happier in their chest than the ones don’t do any thing. If people break the myLot’s rule, I am sure their earning will go down or be canceled; they will get the anger that is the root of going to the hell. Whenever people follow the myLot’s guideline carefully, their earnings will be going up, they will be much happier and lighter like going to the clearer sky. Where people live with peace and happy life, no earthquake, no drought, no flood like my country is like living in the first rank of the heaven. On the other hand, people who live with the fear of hurricane wind, tsunami, flood, and earthquake every year is like living near the first step of the hell’s mouth. I wish you lived in the first heaven like me.

I have never gone near one of those things, and I don't plan to. My fiance warned me that they are evil, and that he knows of people who can prove that they are a portal to hell. He said that they leave you open to anything that might be passing by, and rather than finding what you want, you could become posessed by something evil.

Ouija boards are very negative. Stay away from them! You can end up channeling ghosts who are evil and fool around with you. I say ghosts because they haven't crossed over to the other side. Spirits are those people who have crossed over. Spirits do not bother you but ghosts can. The ghosts that you can channel may even linger in your house and won't go away. Me and my sisters have played with ouija boards for fun and we haven't since. My friend didn't like the ouija board so she wanted to burn it and the ouija board wouldn't burn! If you do not believe the comments here, I suggest you do some research on ouija boards on the internet and the experiences of people who played with it.

Have you even read the discussion at the beginning? I have been doing this for 20 years!!! of course I am familiar with many things you may not understand, and may never understand. The Ouija board is certainly not a childs toy! I have not had my head in ignorance for 20 years! I am sure people feared flying, driving, swimming, sailing the world, bathing, sky diving, going into outer space, going to war, eating worms and playing with fire as well! this is no different. geez!
