What are the reasons that English have become a universal language all over the world? Why for example German or Finnish(my native language)? I know that there is a lot of English speaking people in the world. Those people whose native language is English are a lot easier to communicate all over world, because they already can speak/write fluent English. And that same thing goes for job markets also, because nowadays all big companies are multi nationals and work language is mainly English( I mean for example emails, documents). So I think communication is a lot easier for those who native language is English. What is your opinion?

English is only a communciation tool for international companies . The beauty of it is no matter what nationalities of people are , you can still commincuate with them by english which remove the barrier of cultural differences.Same thing happen in the job markets, because people came from different part of the world in some sectors or countries, so enlgihs become an essential tools for effective communciation in the company

Like me I have been studied in university that use main language which is English even my university is in Thailand, but it is international university. I chose this because I think if I can speak English fluently more than others if they from the same area as me, I would have more chance to get into and work in those company. and maybe I would get higher salary too. =) I think most company is kind of international, work with foreigners..so thats why they need who speak English fluently to work with them. =)

yes, i know that fact. But is it strange that one language have got "universal language" standard? I mean that if you have to learn one language in the world, it would definitely be English and then you get along almost everywhere in world. And that fact gives a huge advantage for people who have English as their native language.

This very obvious; English is commenly taught worldwide cause before in colonialism times Great Britain had much power over the world and then U.S came the world leader. We cant fight the history, but to play with it. (and learn english)
