Did you see the original movie in the cinema?

I think the original cartoon movie came out in about 1986. My parents took my brother and I to see it, and my Dad actually fell asleep! He said the music was the only good thing about it. I of course loved it and still do to this day. Does anyone else have memories of seeing it at the cinema?

Our local cinema aired it a few years back to celebrate the launch of the live action movie, so I saw the animated movie for the first time (My father said I didn't deserve to go see it...long story) and then a few days later saw the live action movie which was pretty cool.
