I know pretty well that constant use of computers would somehow have some ill effects to our eyes because of the UV radiation they emit. And now am thinking of getting myself a UV protector coz am facing my pc almost nine hours every day. What do you think is better, a monitor filter or a UV protection eyeglasses? Please advise... thanks

Use a monitor filter instead of using eyeglasses with Uv protection. The monitor filter is good in containing radiation i think. Plus its more convenient as you won't have to use glasses whenever you would be using the computer.

Yes in today's busy life computer is an important part of our life, either may be home, school or office. Everywhere we are using computer which is necessity also. I too work for around 8-10 hours on computer daily. I am using Acer monitor fitted with eye protector. It is latest one so it has very little effect on my eyes. I keep the screen light not much bright which is also helpful for me. I also give rest after half hours of working. Only in emergency I work for hours continuously, which is very rare.

Once again I have learned something new, and important, thanks to my friends on myLot. I have never heard of the problem with UV from the computer. I have some kind of a reflective coating on my lenses, but I think I will check with my eye doctor. Good discussion.

Hi, yes I think that this is a very good idea I am thinking of doing the same and have had a talk to the optomerist already about this. I think that the uv protection eyeglases would be best as this is what I was advise to buy.

I dont know the cost but I have seen some people use the moniter filters. If you wear glasses, it might be an idea to ask an optician about the cost. Most sunglasses have some uv protection. But I dont think other glasses do.

I suggest you get a UV protection eyeglasses rather than the monitor filter. Well, yeah those eyeglasses are quite expensive but the thing is you can still use them to protect your eyes from the UV radiation which other sources than computer may emit. And you can go a little cheaper if you will just buy an ordinary glass frame and have the lens fixed and changed to anti-UV in an optical clinic. That you can save money almost half the price. I hope I have helped a bit. Godbless!

Wow I never realized that our computers gives off Uv! Thanks for the informative article. I think I would go with monitor filter because I would want to protect my whole face
