Which Intel processor is better for a home PC?Pentium 4 or Pentium D?I need to know why. Which is the best Intel processor for LGA775 socket which ranges money between Rs.5000 and Rs.6000?

pentium D is always better because its multi core i might change mi processor after a while to pD too right now i have a p4 on an intel D865GSA board which is working fine for me at the moment

I am sorry to say, but the two worst processors that Intel even produced are the above quoted ones. Both have poor architectures and high power consumption. Pentium D is the worst, it even consumes upto 150watts and literally you can feel the heat on the CPU. You can check this at any benchmark site. pentium4 uses the Prescott architecture which is also hugely inefficient. So the best option is to get the Core2 series processor. It is energy efficient as well as performance efficient.
